Update from Highways:

I have asked the Service Manager for Highways Asset Management to progress action today in relation to the Foxhill crossroads report. The Highways inspector is on site now, and a sweeper/JCB is also enroute to make the area safe this afternoon. We will also include some warning signs to make road users aware of the potential road condition issues.

It was satisfying today to clean a Give Way sign near that had become very grimy. Coupled with the faded white lines, which we have reported, the junction felt a little dangerous.

We’ve been wanting to tidy up a certain lay-by on the Ridgeway for a while, and were undeterred by today’s rain!

All sorts of nasty stuff had been dumped up there, but hopefully we’ve made a difference. Some bags were too full / heavy for us to remove, and will be reported to the council as fly-tipping.

It was great to welcome the Chief Executive of Swindon Borough Council, Sam Mowbray, to Chiseldon & Ridgeway this week.

We took her on a tour of the Ward, yes, showing off our beautiful villages and lovely countryside, but also showing her ‘in the flesh’ the issues we report to the Council day in day out: fly-tipping, road safety issues, inappropriate planning applications, the SCR, etcetera

Hopefully this helps us get some progress on the issues that matter.

We attended ‘Together in the garden’ at Prospect Hospice tonight to celebrate the work of staff and supporters for this incredible charity.

We were joined by the Mayor, our own Dame Sarah Troughton and many other guests.
