A few photos from break time today. We may not have caught everyone, but we’re trying to be mindful and giving our new Year 7s the space they need to settle, build friendships and become familiar with their new surroundings.

It has been wonderful to see so many more relaxed, happy and settled children around school today. They are finding their feet a little more with each hour that passes and it’s lovely to see.

Wishing all our families a peaceful and restful weekend. We’ll see everyone again on Monday, hopefully feeling positive, refreshed, ready safe and no doubt respectful for the week ahead!

The school gates are back open! From first days to new year groups, today is a big day for families across Wales. It can also be an expensive time of year for parents. The School Essentials Grant offers eligible families up to £200 towards items such as school uniform, PE kit and other school essentials. Check your eligibility: https://www.gov.wales/get-help-school-costs

The Welsh Government is offering support with Free School Meals and the School Essentials Grant, allowing children to focus on learning and fun, not finance.

Today we opened our doors and welcomed all of our pupils back after their summer break!

We also gave a very special Birchgrove welcome to our newcomers — our fantastic Year 7 cohort! Hopefully, they’ve come home happily telling you all about their first day (and not complaining too much about all the photos we took of them! 📸😂).

Here’s Video 1 (yes, there are that many! )— capturing their arrival at school right through to the end of their time with their form tutors.

It was lovely to see so many happy faces and to officially welcome our newest Birchgrove pupils. We hope you enjoy seeing a little glimpse of their first day!

Please see the new menu for 2026. This may take a few weeks before it is up and running with the way the ordering/deliveries work, but our wonderful canteen staff will do their very best to implement it asap.

Any dietary requirements will need to be pre-ordered, as usual either during breakfast service, 1st break or the day before. Pupils can do this by going to the serving hatch and speaking with one of the kitchen staff who they will find very helpful.

Message from our cook - For the first few weeks I will make sure I make up the vegetarian option on the menu, but to save food waste, anyone requiring that will have to pre order it also.

We adore our kitchen staff and very much see them as our own but would like to point out the kitchen is run by Swansea Council and not us.
