The GSP is a partnership that wants residents and organisations active in the area to work together, to look at the needs of the area and how we can make it an even better place in which to live. The St Thomas Ward of the City and County of Swansea lies adjacent to the old Docks area of Swansea and much of its physical, economic and social development over the years has been linked to the activiti
es of the Docks site. This was established as a group name to start the regeneration process in the area, and represents the geographical area covered by the partnership. Second Chance, an organisation within the GSP Regeneration Partnership, was set up in 2011 by David and Cynthia Lloyd. The organisation gives those in the GSP community the opportunity to buy and sell goods such as clothes and household items. If you'd like to get involved, all you have to do is pop into the Jersey Park Pavilion on a Monday between 9.30 am and 1pm, this is called 'drop-in day'. It costs £1 to open an account and you will be assigned a membership number which will enable us to know which item belongs to which member. Initially, you will be allowed to sell 10 items and the items will be on sale for 4 weeks, the 10 items figure will be constantly under review and may change as required. After 4 weeks you will be paid for the items that have sold, minus 20% commission and the unsold items will be returned to you, unless you opt to donate them to us. You will then be able to put in another 10 items for sale. There are a few restrictions on what we will take in for sale. We are not a jumble sale and so the items should be of a decent standard. We do not accept underwear, books, DVDs or CDs and clothing must be clean and stain free. We have limited space and we retain the right to refuse any item if we don't think it is suitable for sale. Every Wednesday between 9.30am and 1pm all items will be put on display where you will be able to purchase them at the price fixed by the owners. Please note that you will not be able to negotiate prices as we are selling on behalf of the owners. After browsing the goods on display, you may like to have a drink at our cafe which is open at the same time that Second Chance operates. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
