Eagles Nest Mens Shed Swansea

Eagles Nest Mens Shed Swansea We meet every Tuesday and Thursday between 10am and 2pm at penllagare valley woods (top entrance by lezzets cafe) just off J47 M4.

Our Men's Sheds group is an ideal place for Men within the community to get together build friendships and share skills in a safe & friendly environment, Our aim is to prevent loneliness and social isolation with in our community Our aim is to tackle isolation and loneliness within our community. Our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment for friendships to be made and flourish within

our shed and our community. With our shed being in a woodland area and having nature surround us we feel being part our shed can give our mental health a boost as well as a place for you to share your skills or hobbies and the opportunity to learn new skills and try new hobbies

Our 1st project our shed successfully completed was to create a community and disable friendly allotment space and garden area in the grounds of Blaen-Y-Maes Drop in Centre and it was great to see it being used and enjoyed by all that visited. Our 2nd project is a National lottery founded project providing a safe and friendly space to help improve Men's Mental health and well-being in and around Swansea area and is currently on going following local Covid rules and guidelines. The group is called Chatterbox which meet every Monday 12pm till 2pm at Jack 2 A King Gym in fforest-ffach. We promote healthy eating providing free healthy food and drinks and provide a 1 hour group counsellor session and if required some private one 2 one counselling. The second hour is upstairs with a boxing trainer and get to work out on the punch bags and pads releasing some of the pain and anger we might be feeling inside. You also receive your very own new pair of boxing gloves and Gym membership so you can use the gym outside of our group too not bad for 2hrs a week of your time. Our third project is well under way, we are now creating a woodland nursery area growing trees to replace and restock the native species of trees in penllagare valley woods and create a outside wood workshop space to build things like park benches, tables, bird boxes and anything else our members wish to make. We will look to make things like wishing wells and bird tables, bird boxes etc with the aim to sell to the general public, maybe something you might want made and like us to make it we be happy to talk and see if we can, any profit made from these sales will go back in to keeping our shed running and materials needed to build more. We are also blessed with the option and consent to help out with the other volunteers and projects that are going on now and ones that are up and coming. Covid measures and guidelines are in place and monitored at all times

Once our nursery is up and running and workshop area is complete our plan is then to open our shed up to the community and hold events like a parent and children day women's day and many other ideas waiting to happen.

Eagles Nest

We are a self funded organisation for men of all backgrounds to meet up once a week for a few hours, a place to meet and chat over a cuppa, plan group activities or projects within Eagles Nest or in the community, such as Garden projects Woodworking projects Model making Fishing trips or anything else you would like to do as a group or by yourself in a safe and friendly environment.

We used occupy the grounds at Blaenymaes Drop in centre as our and it was our first successful project that we completed for community use, We created an allotment area in the rear garden of the drop in centre, made fencing from pallets, bird boxes and raised planter boxes. we also made a disabled ramp so the space could be used for everyone and laid wooden decking out the back too which was great to see the community use.

We like to volunteer our services in anyway we can to any other community projects to help with things such as any DIY tasks around the place inside and out. or creating usable friendly spaces.

We have also set up with the help of the national lottery a Men’s mental health group called Chatterbox in partnership with Jack 2 a King gym in Fforestfach Swansea With a qualified councillor offering one to one help if required ,the first hour is talking and then the second hour we train on the punchbags at your own pace meaning free to have a breather if needed
