The Calon Lan Centre

The Calon Lan Centre The Calon Lan Centre is a based out of Mynyddbach Chapel and is the home and final resting place of D

The Calon Lân project has been set up to maintain and encourage an understanding of our local heritage. The main aim of the organisation is to give communities a sense of belonging and identity using the history of the local area and the story of Calon Lân to bring people together and help them experience the all embracing love of god. Mynyddbach Chapel is the home and burial place of the Welsh ba

rd Daniel James Gwyrosydd who wrote amongst other things the original words to the famous Welsh Hymn Calon Lân. With this in mind, the trustees, members and current users of the centre have decided the best way to preserve the chapel and its heritage is to further expand the work the chapel undertakes; and to start a local heritage project based out of the vestry. This will be achieved in order to give the people of Swansea and beyond; a better understanding of their cultural heritage, and its links to the industrial revolution and the birth of the trade union movement.
