The first fishing trip of 2015 has been booked! If anyone would like to come along we will be at Swansea Pier on Wednesday 28th January at 10:30am. If you plan on attending please let your support worker know. Look forward to seeing you there!

Connect Open Day/Arts Festival, to be held on Friday 29th August, 12 - 4 pm.

The Connect Project is a community resource centre that provides a social framework in which vulnerable people affected by poor mental health and/or learning difficulties, can live as fulfilled lives as possible. We work to combat the personal and social consequences of mental illness, to promote innovative, client-led approaches to recovery, and to facilitate mental well-being through a diverse range of therapeutic activities and accredited courses.

The purpose of the open day is twofold. Firstly, it is intended that the festival provides a showcase for the range of creative talent and ability among our clients. Artworks including pottery, paintings, creative needlework, papier mache, jewellery, cards, and woodcraft will be exhibited throughout the project.

All proceeds from the sale of these works will go towards funding new art and craft equipment and material, and to developing new art related activities. Our Band, Re-Connected will provide live music throughout the day, and there will be a number of poetry readings by members of the creative writing group.

In addition, we will be providing teas, coffees and a light buffet lunch in our newly installed kitchen.

Secondly, and in keeping with the Time to Change campaign, we hope that the event will provide an opportunity for the wider community to come and see what we do at Connect. We believe that by inviting members of the public to visit the project, not only will they will gain an insight into how people with mental ill health are supported to live with dignity and independence, but also understand how we are working to break down the barriers associated with mental health, thus bringing together our local community.

Swansea Support Scheme have started Digital Inclusion sessions which will take place once a month. During these session clients can access support/advice/guidance on anything that is digital based...........from setting up an email, shopping on line to setting the alarm on your mobile.

Swansea Support Scheme info...... this year the scheme has helped 10 clients in avoiding evictions from their tenancies.......well done team!!
