Calling all Coastal Detectives around Swanage and Charmouth!

Have you ever wondered how your local coastline used to look, or how it might change in the future? We’re inviting children and their families to become Coast Detectives and take part in the Our Coast: Then, Now, Next challenge.

Investigate old photos, listen to stories from parents or grandparents, explore what the coast looks like today, and use your imagination to picture what might come next. You can share your discoveries through drawings, photos, interviews, writing, or short videos.

Your clues will help us piece together the story of our changing coast, past, present, and future.

Ready to start investigating? Join the challenge and share what you uncover!

📢🗑️Your bin collection days might be changing - Look out for a letter from Dorset Council...🗑️📢

From Monday 28th September, Dorset Council is changing waste and recycling collection days for around 19,000 households across Purbeck and Upton. These changes will affect most homes served by the Wareham waste depot.

If your home is affected, you will receive a letter during September.

At this stage, residents do not need to do anything other than look out for their letter. The letter will explain any changes to collection days and provide all the information needed to prepare for the new arrangements.

👉 Please note: if you don't receive a letter, your collection services aren't changing.

♻ Why is Dorset Council making these changes? ♻

The changes are the result of a review of how Dorset Council arranges its waste collections from the Wareham depot.

This redesign will organise the rounds more efficiently and on a zoned geographical basis. This will not only make them more manageable but also more resilient as the population grows.

👉 If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact Dorset Waste Services: https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/bins-recycling-and-litter/contact-dorset-council-waste-services
