Glycerol is used to keep slush drinks from freezing solid, but at high levels, it can be dangerous for young children with new findings showing that even one serving could pose a risk.
The FSA’s Board has endorsed our advice that slush ice drinks containing glycerol are not suitable for children under 7, and no refills should be offered for children under 10, this advice is based on 350ml serving.
Parents and guardians should check with the seller on whether the drink contains glycerol.
