A project aimed at improving the response to spiking reports by increasing victims' accessibility to testing kits has been extended to cover the World Cup football tournament.

We’re one of three forces taking part in a pilot project, named Project Alliance, which is being led by the National Centre for Violence Against Women and Girls and Public Protection (NCVPP).

We already know spiking is underreported to us, but we still want victims to come forward for testing, even if they don’t want a criminal justice outcome.

As part of this initiative, spiking victims can now access multi-drug urine testing kits which are available from specific local hospitals and health centres, not just from the police, giving them more options for support.

The test will detect and identify known substances people may have been spiked with.

There is also information provided on how to use these testing kits which will be available during the pilot which was initially launched in March and has since been extended until 31 July 2026.

So far, we've received 42 reports of spiking since the pilot project was launched.

DCI Chris Berryman, our spiking lead, said: “The pilot has gone well from a police perspective. We want to make testing more accessible and remove some of the stigma of reporting crime.

"We want victims to feel they are able to report incidents to us as well as making them more aware of spiking and the support available to them.

“If you believe you have been spiked, please come forward and report it to us.

"The sooner it is reported, the better the chance we have of identifying offenders and stopping them from harming others.

“You will be listened to and taken seriously. We’re here to support you and help you get the answers you need.”

Potential spiking victims can report an incident or find out more information by calling us on 101 or reporting online here: https://orlo.uk/fnJVZ

A man has been jailed after throwing a loaded firearm and ammunition out of a window when we raided his home.

We attended Tiron Desuza’s home in Watnall Road, Hucknall, on 4 March 2026 in order to arrest him on other matters.

An officer who was securing the rear of the address spotted a landing window open and items being thrown onto a flat roof.

Police drone footage showed the roof was clear prior to our arrival and captured the moment the window was opened.

We recovered a revolver and rounds of ammunition which were wrapped in a plastic bag.

Desuza was arrested but when questioned denied the firearm was his or that he had discarded it.

He claimed in his interview that the window was open because he burned incense.

However, the 26-year-old eventually pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition at an earlier hearing.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday (3 June) Desuza, of Watnall Road, was jailed for a total of seven years and two months.

Police Constable Paulina Goral said: “Desuza was happy to casually throw a viable, loaded firearm and ammunition out a window in an attempt to evade justice.

“Criminals will often try to discard weapons or drugs when officers attend their address but we had secured the property and observed Desuza at the window.

“Being in possession of a firearm is a very serious offence and Desuza clearly had little concern for anyone in the neighbourhood in which he lived.

“Thankfully, fi****ms and fi****ms offences are extremely rare in Nottinghamshire and we are proactive in our efforts to take them off the streets and keep the public safe.”

A well-known thief has been banned from entering multiple shops in Sutton-in-Ashfield and across the county.

Lester Moore, aged 47, has been convicted of dozens of theft offences and has served multiple prison sentences.

Most recently, he was convicted of stealing Easter eggs from Tesco Express in Lakeside.

Officers have now secured a Criminal Behaviour Order banning him from Screwfix, Asda, Heron Foods and Boots in Sutton, and the following stores anywhere in Nottinghamshire:

• Tesco
• Home Bargains
• The Range
• Boyes
• Matalan
• Pets at Home
• Co-op
• Poundland

The order, granted at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on 28 May, lasts for a period of five years.

Any breach is a criminal offence in its own right and may lead to an immediate custodial sentence.

Sergeant Tim Hather, of the Sutton-in-Ashfield neighbourhood policing team, said: "Moore is a prolific local offender who has been responsible for a very large number of shop thefts over the last few years.

"Despite being given numerous chances to change his ways, he has continued to offend time and again.

"Criminal Behaviour Orders of this type are highly effective tools in the fight against shoplifting, and I am delighted we have now secured one against Moore.

"If he does not abide by it, he can expect to be arrested immediately and put before a court. So if you see him in any of these locations, we want to know."

We are investigating an assault at a busy traffic junction in Sutton-in-Ashfield and are appealing for additional witnesses to come forward.

The victim, a man in his late 50s, was left with serious injuries after the incident at the Hamilton Road junction of the A617 Sherwood Way South at around 4pm on Friday 15 May.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and is currently on police bail.

PC Abby Mason said: "This incident happened at a busy junction of a major road and is likely to have been seen by several members of the public.

"If that includes you, we want to speak to you without delay – particularly if you have any dashcam footage of the altercation.

"In incidents like this people often assume that others will come forward; or that the information they have may not be significant.

"I want to stress that any information – no matter how trivial it may seem – could prove vital to this investigation."

We’re currently seeing an increase in calls about general noise, such as loud music, garden gatherings, or neighbour disturbances. While we understand these situations can be frustrating, many noise concerns are not police matters and are usually best dealt with by your local council.

Your local council’s environmental health team has the powers to assess and take action where needed.

There are some circumstances where police involvement may be necessary, such as if noise is linked to anti-social behaviour in a public place, or if there is evidence of crime or an immediate risk to safety.

By contacting the right service first, you can help ensure your issue is resolved more quickly and keep the 101 and 999 lines free for those who need them most.

We have arrested a suspect after a teenager suffered serious injuries during a fight.

We were called to Newstead and Annesley Country Park, Newstead, around 5pm on Tuesday (26 May) following reports of an altercation involving groups of people.

A 16-year-old boy was located with stab wounds and was given immediate first aid by officers.

He was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he remains.

A second victim was also located and found to have suffered minor injuries.

Our officers worked quickly to identify a suspect and tracked him down to an address in Broxtowe a short time later.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm with intent and remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Ian Smith said: "A teenager has suffered serious injuries following this incident and it will undoubtedly cause concern in the community.

"I hope people welcome our response and the rapid arrest which has been made.

"The officers who attended should be commended for providing vital first aid and then working efficiently to identify and locate a suspect.

"Our investigation is ongoing and the public can still assist us to understand exactly what happened.

"On a summer evening we expect the country park to have been busy, so we'd like to hear from anyone who witnessed anything in the moments before, during and after the incident.

“It is also important anyone with relevant dashcam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage gets in touch without delay.

“Officers will remain in the area today to carry out further inquiries, speak to local people and offer reassurance."

Anyone who can assist should call 101, quoting incident 630 of 26 May 2026, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

On 30th April persistent Hucknall Town Centre offender David Enright was issued a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) due to his ongoing criminal and poor behaviour. Enright had plagued the town center and area surrounding areas such as the church yard and communal front of the library and was often found drinking and causing a nuisance to members of public and shop keepers.

The CBO was successfully applied for by the Hucknall Neighbourhood Policing Team and he was arrested on 22nd May after being found on the High Street and found guilty at Court the next day. PS Mann from the Hucknall NPT states 'This individual has has been a pest for years, we had enough of his drink fueled behaviour. We were delighted when the Court granted the CBO. We are determined to make Hucknall Town Centre a safer and more pleasant place to be for the good people of the Town. CBO's are an excellent tool and we will be looking to target some of the others who have been blighting the town recently, watch this space.
