Ducklings Nursery

Ducklings Nursery A nurturing environment to learn, create and grow. Ducklings Private Nursery first opened in a classroom Situated at Moor Hall Primary School in 1994.

We are now located in a purpose built modern classroom environment situated in the grounds of the school. Ducklings is privately owned and managed, this allows us to provide well researched, highly structured learning programs and focus on continually improving the quality of the learning experience. We implement advanced learning techniques whilst closely watching and monitoring their impact. Chi

ldren under 5 years of age thrive best when they spend most of their time with just two or three primary carers. By providing continuity and stability we can equip children with the learning skills that will establish a standard throughout their lives. Our aim is to help develop your child's skills and emotions in a safe, caring environment ensuring a happy transition to primary school. We are registered to take 36 children in each session aged 2 to 5 years and are subject to inspection by Ofsted to ensure we maintain
national standards for nursery education. For further information or to arrange to visit us here at Ducklings, please feel free to contact us via email or telephone.

🌸 Valentine’s Stay & Play – What a Lovely Afternoon 🌸

We had such a wonderful time welcoming our lovely parents into nursery today for our Valentine’s Stay & Play! 💗
It was heart‑warming to see families engaging so naturally in the activities, chatting, creating, and exploring alongside the children. The room was full of smiles, laughter, and little moments of connection exactly what we hoped for on a day all about love and togetherness.

We are so proud of our children for how confidently and enthusiastically they took part. Their engagement, creativity, and excitement made the afternoon truly special. Watching them share their learning with you all was a joy to see.

Thank you to every parent who joined us — your presence means so much. We love having you in, and we can’t wait for the next one! ❤️

🌟 Clay… on the floor?! Yes please! 🌟
Today we gave the children a huge, floor‑level clay invitation — and they absolutely dove into it! Little hands, little feet, whole bodies… all exploring, squishing, stamping and sliding with pure joy.

✨ Why we love floor‑clay play:

Big movements = strong bodies
Squishing + squeezing = strong little hands
Messy textures = brilliant sensory learning
Open‑ended play = big imagination
And best of all… SO much fun!

The laughter, the concentration, the creativity — they didn’t want it to end! 💛
Messy play + curious children = magic. ✨

🌿 Learning About Our Friends at Mercia Grange Care Home 🌿

We had a lovely visit from Rachel at Mercia Grange today! The children were excited to see her again and learn more about our resident friends.

Rachel spoke to the children about dementia in a gentle, child‑friendly way and showed photos of the cinema room, sensory room and other spaces at Mercia Grange — which caused lots of excitement!

She also shared 'The Dementia Garden' story and used Bluey’s Janet and Rita to help the children understand even more. Before leaving, she gifted us colouring sheets, which kept everyone busy all afternoon as they chatted about their own visits and how we can be kind friends to the residents.

We can’t wait to start visiting Mercia Grange again soon 💛🌼

🖐 Why Fine Motor Skills Matter for Early Learning 🖐

Did you know that developing fine motor skills is a key step in helping children recognising and forming letters and numbers? ✏️🔢

Fine motor skills involve the small muscles in the hands and fingers. Activities like threading beads, using tweezers, or playing with playdough strengthen these muscles, making it easier for children to hold a pencil, form letters, and write numbers confidently.

When children have strong fine motor control, they can:
✅ Grip pencils correctly
✅ Trace and write letters and numbers
✅ Build the foundation for reading and math success

At Ducklings Nursery, we make learning fun by incorporating hands-on activities that boost these essential skills every day! 🌟

💡 Tip for Parents: Encourage your child to practice at home with simple tasks like buttoning clothes, cutting paper, or drawing shapes.

Together, we can help little hands do big things! 💛

🎄 At Ducklings, we are proud to nurture our children through a set of core values that guide everything we do.

✨ Today, our focus has been on Inspire: creating delight. This is seeking joy in every moment of learning. We aim to inspire laughter 😊, spark curiosity 🔍, and foster a lifelong love of learning through shared experiences and thoughtfully chosen resources.
The children have been full of excitement as they explored our festive Christmas crafts 🎨. Using their imagination 💡 and teamwork 🤝, they have created beautiful pieces while experimenting with a variety of materials.

This seasonal theme has provided wonderful opportunities to weave in key learning experiences. For example, we’ve used presents 🎁 to help children identify different shapes 🔺🔵 and encouraged them to design their own cards and ornaments, supporting the development of essential fine motor skills 🖐️.

It’s been a day filled with creativity, collaboration, and joy 🌟, as we continue to inspire and delight every child in their learning journey.
