📢We are proud to share the news that our chief executive, Samantha Allen, has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in His Majesty the King’s 2026 Birthday Honours.

Sam has been recognised for her outstanding contribution to the NHS both here in the North East and North Cumbria and nationally.

Sam played a key role in establishing our ICB almost four years ago and her leadership has been a driving force behind improvements in care and tackling some of the region’s biggest health challenges.

Sam has also made an important impact nationally, including advancing women’s health, supporting women leaders across the NHS, and helping raise the profile and standards of NHS leadership and management.

Congratulations Sam on this much deserved honour. 👏

Stay safe buying medicines online!
Taking ANY medicine should always be done with advice from a GP or pharmacist!
Buying medicines online can be risky!

Some websites sell medicines that are fake or haven’t been checked by a pharmacist.

They could cause harmful side effects, react badly with other medicines or even be fatal.

If you do buy online, make sure the pharmacy is registered with the General Pharmaceutical
Council

Stay safe, stay informed!

Still using a blue inhaler?💙

It's time for an upgrade!

Blue inhalers help to open your airways so you can breathe more easily, but Asthma is also caused by swelling inside your lungs.

Combination inhalers can:
✔ Help you breathe easier
✔ Reduce swelling in your lungs

This means:
• Less risk of Asthma attacks
• Better daily control
• Healthier lungs

What should you do?🤔

If you use a blue inhaler, it’s important to have an Asthma review.

An Asthma review will:
• Check your symptoms
• Make sure you’re using your inhaler correctly
• See if a combination inhaler is right for you

👉 Call your GP practice today to your review.

💙 Recognising and supporting unpaid carers

This Carers Week, we're proud to join partners from across the North East and North Cumbria in signing the new Commitment to Unpaid Carers pledge.

Unpaid carers make an invaluable contribution to our communities every day, providing vital support to family members, friends and neighbours. Across the North East, around 286,000 people provide unpaid care, helping loved ones remain independent, connected and supported.

Developed by unpaid carers and carer support organisations, the commitment aims to:
✅ Raise awareness of carers
✅ Reduce inequalities
✅ Involve carers in decision-making
✅ Strengthen support across the health and care system

By signing the pledge, we are reaffirming our commitment to ensuring unpaid carers are recognised, valued and supported for the essential role they play in our communities.

Thank you to all carers for everything you do. 👏

If you are over 75 or immunosuppressed, the COVID-19 spring booster can protect you from getting seriously ill💚

Like all medicines, vaccines can cause side effects such as:
• feeling sore where you had the injection
• achy, like you have flu
• tired
• headache

Most side effects are mild, only last a day or two and not everyone gets them.

Speak to your GP or pharmacist or search 🔎 ‘NHS COVID-19 vaccine’ for more details.
