It’s with great sadness that we share the news that Cllr Katy Hofmann (Labour Cllr for Rodborough) has resigned from Stroud District Council due to ill health.

Katy has been a valued colleague and a true asset to our party. Cllr Bob Hughes, who is stepping in as interim Labour Group leader, spoke of our shock at the news, but above all of our gratitude. He described Katy as an “outstanding leader who has brought a perfect blend of skills to the role.”

We pay tribute to the calm, steady way she led. Collaborative, balanced and warm, yet firm enough to win the argument when it mattered. On behalf of everyone in the local party, we thank her for her tremendous contribution to the people of Rodborough and the wider District.

Katy’s leadership will be greatly missed.

🏠 BIG NEWS FOR FAMILIES WITHOUT A PERMANENT HOME

Today, the Government has announced a transformative affordable housebuilding programme to help end the scourge of people being trapped in temporary accommodation.

Backed by nearly £10 billion of funding, the programme will deliver more of the genuinely affordable homes our communities desperately need — with approximately 60% of the homes for social rent. 🏡🔑

More than 180,000 children are currently growing up without a permanent home- depriving them of the stability they need and deserve in order to get the best start in life.

This Government is determined to change that.

We’re investing in social housing, building more affordable homes and tackling homelessness at its roots — because everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to call home.

Nobody left behind, and no person ignored. 🌹

🚨 NEW COMMITMENT IN THE FIGHT TO END ROUGH SLEEPING 🏠

In his first week as Prime Minister, Andy Burnham pledged to end rough sleeping — and today the Government has taken a major step towards delivering on that promise.

As part of a £442 million funding package, the Government has committed to ensuring every rough sleeper has a route off the streets this Christmas. 🎄🏠

An estimated 4,000 people were found to have slept rough for at least one night in 2025. Behind that figure are thousands of people who deserve safety, dignity, and roof over their head.

Nobody left behind, and no person ignored. 🌹

🚨 BIG NEWS! 🚨

From 1 April 2027, people with a Disabled Persons Bus Pass will be able to travel for free at any time of day — not just between 9:30am and 11:00pm! 🚌♿️✨

This is a fantastic step towards giving disabled people greater freedom, in their daily lives.

Whether it’s getting to work earlier, heading out for an appointment, meeting friends, or simply staying out later to enjoy everything Stroud has to offer— people shouldn’t have to worry about whether their bus pass is valid.

More freedom. More independence. More opportunities.

A change that can make a real difference to people’s everyday lives. 🚌✨
