🟣 ASB Awareness Week 🟣

Recently, we invited tenants to meet local organisations that support people affected by crime and anti-social behaviour (ASB).

Representatives from Victim Support, Restorative Gloucestershire and ASB Operations were on hand to explain the free and confidential help they offer. Many of our tenants already use the ASB App, so it was a great chance to ask questions and learn more about the support available.

The event helped tenants find out how these organisations work together to help people feel safer and more supported in their neighbourhoods 💚

Sandra, one of our involved tenants, said:
🗨️ "It was great to meet people from different organisations and learn about the work they do during Anti-social Behaviour Week.

"I found it very informative. Everyone was friendly and easy to talk to. It was good to see how these organisations work together to help make our communities safer and nicer places to live."

🚨 Council takes action on anti-social behaviour 🚨

Stroud District Council has secured an Anti-social Behaviour (ASB) injunction with a power of arrest following repeated incidents at St Nicholas Court, an Independent Living scheme in Hardwicke.

The injunction was granted by the courts in June 2026 and relates to an individual who is not a tenant but had been causing disruption at the scheme.

This case shows how our Report It to Sort It approach works. By reporting concerns, residents helped our housing team and Gloucestershire Constabulary gather evidence and take action to protect the wider community.

Cllr Gary Luff, Chair of the council's Housing Committee, said:
💬 "We want our tenants to know that when they report anti-social behaviour to us, we will take it seriously and we will act. This case is a strong example of our Report It to Sort It approach in action, helping us keep our communities safe and respectful places to live."

Did you know you can report noise nuisance using the ASB App? It allows residents to submit real-time audio recordings directly to the Council, helping officers assess issues quickly and accurately without needing to call at the time of disturbance. The ASB App is popular with tenants.

Noise nuisance is one of the most common ASB concerns reported to councils. We assess reports carefully, gather evidence, and take proportionate action, from early interventions to formal enforcement where necessary, to help restore peace in our communities.

Where appropriate, councils may use restorative justice to address anti-social behaviour. This approach allows individuals to understand the impact of their actions and work towards positive change, helping rebuild relationships and prevent future issues safely and voluntarily.

As part of Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, we have been working closely with residents and partners to highlight the importance of tackling ASB together. Collaborative working plays a vital role in creating safer, stronger neighbourhoods, and tenant voices are at the heart of this approach. The following comments reflect residents' experiences and views on understanding the positive impact of partnership working and raising awareness of anti-social behaviour within our communities.

‘I recently spent a lovely morning at Stroud District Council in connection with Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness week. It was great to meet with representatives from other organisations like Restorative Justice and find out how they work. Other partnerships included our local Police and Victim Support representatives and ASB Operations, who provide the ASB App. We had a great morning finding out how Stroud District Council work with these external agencies who collectively, try and make our community a nicer and safer place to live. 🟣 ASB Awareness Week- Day 2🟣

No one should feel alone when experiencing anti-social behaviour. Stroud District Council works closely with Victim Support to ensure those affected receive confidential, independent help from emotional support to practical advice. Support is available even if you’re unsure about taking formal action.

ASB Awareness Week provides an opportunity to shine a spotlight on the positive impact that partnership working can have in making our communities safer. By working collaboratively with residents, local agencies, and community organisations, we can tackle anti-social behaviour effectively and ensure our neighbourhoods remain places where people feel safe and supported.

Today the Housing team held an event which highlighted the real strength of collaboration, bringing engaged tenants, housing, police and support services together to share knowledge, build relationships and take collective action. Stroud District Council are committed to listening, partnering and responding, because when we work as one, we can make a lasting difference to people’s lives and help our communities feel safer, stronger and more connected.”

Supporting the housing event, Andy Kefford, Strategic Head of Housing said ‘Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and know their voice matters.
