It was wonderful to formally welcome some of our new foster carers into the Trafford fostering family, and what better time to do it that during national Foster Care Fortnight last week. This was a great opportunity for them to meet other foster carers and find out more about Trafford Foster Carer Association, all part of the support in place for our amazing foster carers in Trafford.

Every foster carer has a different story as to why they wanted to foster - and these brilliant little films from Foster for Greater Manchester capture their dedication and passion so well ❤️

Lovely to hear from our very own Katie today, flying the flag for Trafford, and how her own family all bought into the idea of fostering local children - and the difference they could all make together.

Such wise, moving words from foster carer Keith. "It's not as hard as people think it is... we're born to do it, being parents, aren't we?"

Our fostering service had a brilliant day at this year's Trafford Pride - undaunted by the changeable weather - with some of our foster carers sharing their experience of fostering and having some great conversations with the people that stopped by.

Thanks to everyone who came along to pitch in! And if you'd like to know more about becoming part of our amazing fostering family in Trafford, start your journey here: https://fosterforgm.com/contact-us

Did you know nearly 40% of foster carers combine fostering with other work? Today's Foster Care Fortnight video is a brilliant example of how carers balance their jobs and caring responsibilities and still make time and space for a healthy family life together.

As a former cared for child, care experienced young person, social worker and now writer, speaker and herself a mum, Rebekah Pierre has incredible insight into the care system, where it goes wrong but also what the people working within it do get right.

Her piece below for Foster Care Fortnight is a window into the impact of her final fostering placement, and the love and trust that has blossomed during an enduring relationship with those foster carers, Julie and Simon.

My son Remi recently took his first steps at my foster parent’s house. I suspect this wasn’t a coincidence.

"It's a massive extended family, and those other foster carers, they're not colleagues, they're friends."

We’re so proud of our amazing fostering community. When you foster with Trafford, other carers become your village – partly through the formal structures of Trafford’s Foster Carer Association and our Mockingbird Hub, but also through the friendships and support networks that develop between foster carers, which are wonderful to see, and so important.

Today, on the first day of national Foster Care Fortnight, Rolfe has been at Bevano Lounge in Urmston, spreading the word about how you can get involved in fostering.

It’s a chance to transform a child’s life – and maybe your own too. Many of our carers say that fostering is the best thing they’ve ever done. If you think it could be for you, we’d love to hear from you: https://fosterforgm.com/contact-us
