YORKS Recruiting On 6 June 2016, The Yorkshire Regiment celebrated its tenth anniversary and is the only true County regiment remaining in the British Army. r more details.

Formed in 2006 from an amalgamation of three famous Yorkshire regiments, today’s Yorkshire Regiment has been in the forefront of operations across the globe and has its roots, here ‘at home’ in Yorkshire. Building on 330 years of history, our soldiers have been deployed on every recent operation and training mission across the globe and we are now focussed on making sure that we are the best recru

ited, best trained and best prepared infantry regiment we can possibly be. One of the premier infantry regiments in the Army, we have established a reputation for operational and sporting excellence that Yorkshire and Teesside can be proud of and created a unique identity as Yorkshire’s own Warriors. We could not have achieved this without the support of the communities we represent and the towns that we recruit from. We have in The Yorkshire Regiment some of the best infantry soldiers in the world; honest, tough, straightforward and hard-working Yorkshiremen. Our soldiers are fiercely proud of their regiment, their county and fiercely loyal to their mates. Our soldiers are modest in success and unflappable in adversity. From these highly capable soldiers we consistently produce outstanding leaders. Together, our soldiers, sergeants and officers share a unique bond of mutual trust forged through success in battle, in training and on the sports field. Add to this our loyal and supportive families and our strong ties with our ‘home’ county and you get a group of people with strong bonds of friendship, fun, endeavour and high achievement and all with a shared with 330 years of history on the front-line. The 1st Battalion are Armoured infantry based at Warminster. Having just returned from a gruelling exercise in Canada, they are held at the very highest state of readiness and will deploy to Estonia in June 2018. The 2nd Battalion from Catterick are currently deployed as the Kabul Protection Unit on Operation TORAL 5. It is a responsibility that the Battalion will hold for the next eight months. The 4th Battalion are our county-based, light infantry reserves with
Army Reserve Centres (ARCs) in Barnsley, Beverley, Hull, Huddersfield, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Sheffield and York.
