Jeremy Wright MP recently spoke on the Hansard Society podcast about the release of the Mandelson documents and why Parliament must be able to hold the Government to account.
Well worth a listen.

In the past several weeks, on behalf of the Intelligence and Security Committee and in my capacity as its Deputy Chair, I have been pressing the Government on its handling of the Mandelson documents, arguing that redacting material beyond the terms of the Humble Address requires Parliament's consent, not a unilateral assumption of it.
The documents, once released, confirmed serious concerns: a rushed vetting process, mitigations agreed but never evidenced and an announcement made before the US had even granted agrément.
Last month I featured on the Hansard Society's Parliament Matters podcast, explaining the ISC's scrutiny role, why the Government needed Parliament's permission for broader redactions and what the documents reveal about decision-making in this Government.
