Come experience all Dunskey has to offer for yourself this October.

We're planning some exciting events this Autumn. You can expect archery, fishing, axe throwing and walks with our gamekeeper, Davy, who has worked this estate for nearly four decades. As well as plenty more we are not quite ready to share yet.

We would love to have you stay a night and experience it all for yourself.

Built at the turn of the 1900s, this lodge is at the edge of the estate, closer to Portpatrick village, with an enclosed garden big enough to lose an afternoon in. Two bedrooms, a cosy living room, and a garden that runs straight into the woodland.

Autumn is one of our favourite seasons at the estate.

The light turns gold before anything else does. It catches the last leaves on the trees, spills down the cliffs and finds its way into hidden corners of the coastline most people never see.

There is a particular hour in the evening when the whole estate seems to hold its breath. The sea softens. The fields turn amber. Even the cattle by the gate seem to take a minute to appreciate their surroundings.

This is Dunskey, dressed for the season.

We're doing something new at Dunskey this autumn.

In October, we're opening the gates of Dunskey and inviting everyone who stays overnight with us to experience all the estate has to offer.

You'll be able to enjoy archery, fishing, wellness sessions, evenings by the fire and much more. The estate as you've always imagined it, open for everyone to enjoy.

Keep an eye out for more information soon, as well as something new coming to Dunskey too, which we can't wait to share more about.

This is what a room looks like when someone actually thought about it.

Every room at Dunskey is designed individually by our own team, not chosen from a catalogue. Antique furniture, our own choice of books, small details that make it feel less like a hotel room and more like somewhere you've stayed before.

Egyptian cotton towels and Turkish cotton robes. Bedding you will not want to leave. A recovery and wellness kit waiting for you after a day on the estate.

We probably spent too long obsessing over the little details that no one will notice. But to us, they meant a lot.

Marian and Babajide got married in the Water Nest, one of our favourite ceremony spaces on the estate.

They picked well - flowers everywhere, the loch behind them, and fireworks and sparklers lighting up the evening.

Nobody is ever ready for the third morning.

The wedding is done. The dancing is done. The speeches, the tears, the first look, the cake - all of it has happened. And yet somehow, on the third morning, nobody wants to leave.

Breakfast stretches longer than it should. The cousins who had not seen each other in years are still at the table at eleven. The friends who flew the furthest are the last ones to pick up their bags. The couple themselves are somewhere on the grounds, taking one last walk, not saying much, not needing to.

When the buses finally pull away, our whole team lines up to wave goodbye. Every time, without exception, people cry. Guests who arrived as strangers to our team leave as something closer to family. Three nights is not a long time. But at Dunskey, it is enough.

This is the part of a Dunskey wedding that does not make it into the brochure. The slow, unhurried morning after. The moment when three nights of being somewhere truly special starts to sink in.

One night would never get you here. Two nights, maybe. But the third morning belongs to the people who stayed long enough to reach it.

Autumn at Dunskey is something people do not expect.

The golden light through the ancient woodland. Leaves turning across two thousand acres of Galloway countryside. The coastline at its most dramatic - powerful, raw, the kind of sea that reminds you how small and alive you are at the same time.

And then back to the lodge. Warm, nestled into the estate, the afternoon sun catching the trees outside the window.

We think autumn is one of the best seasons to experience Dunskey. The crowds are gone, the light is extraordinary and the estate feels entirely, completely yours.

Over a hundred years of history in this room. Take a look inside.

Recently restored and revealed for the first time, this is one of the castle's most characterful rooms. Original architectural details, thoughtfully chosen furnishings, and the kind of atmosphere that takes a moment to settle into but is very difficult to leave.

One of our recent guests put it better than we could:

"If you don't believe in magic, that will definitely change after staying on this estate. Every step was enchanted and every moment was embodied."

We think the Orion room does that particularly well.

Before it was a lodge, Wren's Nest was a groom's cottage.

In the days when the Dunskey stables were used for carriages and carthorses, this was where the groom lived. The stables themselves were designed by William Burn in the early 19th century and still carry many of their original features. For years after that, the cottage was used for staff housing, its only source of heat a small fireplace in the living room downstairs.

When we came to renovate it in 2021, it was in quite a state. A decade of cigarette smoke had darkened every wall and carpet. The layout was unusual to say the least. We nearly wept.

But what it became is something else entirely.

Wren's Nest is now one of our most vivid and textured lodges. Rich colours, layered fabrics, an atmosphere that feels almost dreamlike. The kind of place that makes you want to stay inside and do very little, very slowly.

From a groom's cottage to this. We think William Burn would approve.
