We conserve one of the world’s richest botanical collections at our four gardens Edinburgh, Benmore, Dawyck and Logan. Scotland’s most exotic garden, take a walk in paradise at Logan with plant treasures rarely seen in the United

Kingdom. Enjoying an almost subtropical climate on the south-western tip of Scotland, Logan is a showcase for colourful blooms throughout the season and home to over 1800 different plant species. Please note that we have no affiliation with Logan House Garden, which is a separate property.

Thanks to the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, Logan enjoys an almost subtropical climate, allowing exotic plants from around the world to flourish. At Logan, we are currently growing 5625 plants from 3955 accessions which originated in over 40 countries.

Vietnam represents the highest number of plants from a single country, with 495 accessions, representing 12.5% of the collection. The next 2 countries with the highest number of accessions are Chile and Australia, which represent 18.6% of the Logan collection. Australia, Chile & New Zealand together represent 25% of the Logan collection, truly emphasizing how southern hemisphere plants thrive and flourish in the Logan temperate climate.

Logan’s contribution to conservation is critical and we work towards the protection of vulnerable and endangered plants in an attempt to prevent extinction. 24% of the Logan collection is classed as vulnerable, endangered, critically endangered or extinct in the wild.

Our staff work in conjunction with many organisations, to research, conserve and protect plants, preventing them from becoming extinct. Logan Botanic Garden has 8 accessions which are extinct in the wild including Rhododendron kanehirae from Taiwan, which was wild collected during an RBGE expedition in the early 1990s
