Afternoon all. I would like to apologise for the lack of updates on our face book page.
I am sure you can all appreciate it’s been a very busy summer.
To give you some kind of insight, between July 1st and August 31st, the Stowmarket crew have been mobilised to **87 shouts**.
Would also like to take this opportunity to thank those who left gifts for us at the station during our time at Dunwich. They were greatly appreciated by the crew.

Sad to say due to the ongoing incident at Dunwich, the ladder climb has been postponed

📢 24-hour Continuous Ladder Climb Postponed

Due to the ongoing major incident at Dunwich Heath, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone the 24-hour continuous ladder climb that was due to start at the Buttermarket at 12 noon tomorrow (Friday 31 July) and continue until 12 noon on Saturday 1 August.

Many of the firefighters who had signed up to take part have already been involved in the incident response, and it is important that they are able to get the rest they deserve. Others may still be required to support ongoing operations.

We appreciate this comes at short notice, but we wanted to review the progress made by crews today before making a final decision on whether the event could go ahead.

The ladder climb will be rescheduled, and we will share details with you all as soon as they are confirmed.

Monday’s drill night saw the crew head to the recreation ground in stowmarket to place a recruitment poster.
While there it seemed fitting to test our hoses, ground monitor and water curtain.
This was gratefully received by the local dogs 🐕

It’s been a busy few months for stowmarket fire station. We have now had 100 shouts for the year so far.

The fire service is aware of the fire on Haughley Road in Harleston and there is no need to call 999 to report it.

Thank you to those members of the public who have already contacted us. We appreciate people being vigilant and raising concerns.

We have been actively managing the muck heap fire at this location for the past couple of days. Due to the nature of the material involved, it is likely to continue smouldering on and off for some time.

However, the fire is under control.

The landowner is in contact with the fire service and will notify us directly should the situation change or require further attendance.

This morning the crew were out in the community litter picking. They stopped off at the recreation ground, pikes meadow and cedars park. It’s great to get out in the community and meet people and collect some rubbish at the same time.
