We know it’s been a little quiet here lately, but today we’re reaching out with something very important.
One of our Nursery children, just 3 years old, has recently been diagnosed with leukaemia. Since her diagnosis, she has already faced an incredibly tough journey. Undergoing intensive chemotherapy, lumbar punctures, blood transfusions, and steroid treatments in her fight against this devastating illness. Despite everything, she continues to show incredible strength every single day.
We’re asking our wonderful community to come together and support her and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Please take a moment to read our go fund me fundraiser using the link below. If you’re able to, any donation, no matter how small would mean so much. And if you can’t donate, simply sharing this post can make a huge difference.
Thank you for your kindness and support ❤️

⭐️ Happy International Women's Day ⭐️

We would like to take this opportunity to recognise and thank our amazing team of ladies for their continuous hard work & dedication towards the children and the families in our care. You are very much appreciated! To quote the wise words of Michelle Obama, "there is no limit to what we, as women, can accomplish" and we are blessed to have such strong team members who demonstrate this on a daily basis!

Also a massive shout out to all our past, current and future Mums, Grandmas, Aunties, Sisters and Daughters. You are all amazing and we are grateful for each and every one of you..

Here's to strong women, may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them! 💪

As part of our commitment to keeping children safe, happy and healthy at Roundhill Day Nursery, every staff member is Paediatric First Aid trained. Our newest members of the team, Victoria and Lauren have recently took part in this essential 12hr Paediatric First Aid training course with Wye First Aid.

A wide variety of content is covered, from learning how to deal with a range of illnesses, injuries and emergency situations, to the importance of accurate accident and incident reporting. The training helps equip all staff members with the knowledge and skills they will need to confidently respond in a calm and appropriate manner to any First Aid situation.

🌎 📖 World Book Day 📖 🌎

World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. Their mission is to promote reading for pleasure which is the single biggest indicator of a child’s future success – more than their family circumstances, their parents’ educational background or their income.

At Roundhill Day Nursery, we recognise the importance of story time and reading for pleasure which is why we incorporate this into the children's daily routine. Today, the children have been very excited to come to nursery dressed as their favourite characters and share their favourite stories with their peers...even the staff got dressed up and joined in the fun. We have had several story themed activities and crafts set up throughout the day for the children to explore aswell as lots of story time opportunities...we certainly made the most out of World Book Day!

***Safer alternatives for travelling in a car during the winter period***

1 – Use footmuffs specifically designed for baby car seats...

Footmuffs specifically designed for being used with baby car seats have back openings and pre-cut holes that allow placing the harness on the inside in its correct position but still give babies the warmth of a snowsuit with the added safety.

2 – Place a hot water bottle into the car seat 5-10 minutes before departure (but of course remove it before using the seat)...

By placing a hot water bottle into your child’s car seat five to ten minutes before departure, you can easily ensure that they are not sitting on a cold surface. Instead, they are even receiving extra heating from below.

3 – Have your child wear clothes made from fleece or wool...

These materials offer good isolation properties without being so thick, so that the harness can be tightened properly.

4 – Put the coat on ‘the wrong way around’ after buckling up...

Place your child into the seat without the coat and buckle them up tightly. Afterwards, you can put the coat on ‘the wrong way around’ by putting it over the arms and laying it over their upper body. This way, it can still protect from the cold air without being placed in between your child and the harness.

5 – Bring an extra blanket with you in the car...

Allow your child to snuggle up with a blanket that is placed over them after buckling up. This allows them to be warm and cosy but still travel safely during the whole journey.

6 – Have your child wear a poncho and put the back part over the seat

If your child is wearing a poncho, you can place the part that is hanging over their back over the child car seat and the front part above the harness. This way, you can create a ‘warm bubble’ underneath the poncho and still ensure that no thick layer prevents the harness from being tight.
