For the first time in 20 years, Black Country Food Bank may have to buy baked beans 📢

Baked beans have been a staple in their food parcels since the Black Country Foodbank opened 20 years ago but thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, they've never had to purchase them.

But right now, donations are falling while demand for support remains. Their stock of baked beans is running very low.

Back in January, Black Country Food Bank supported the national
campaign, highlighting how beans are one of the most affordable, nutritious and versatile foods available. They're also one of the most requested items in our food parcels and help provide a filling meal for people facing hardship.

So, we have decided to lend a hand and are asking parents, grandparents and guardians to send in a tin (or 2 if you are able) of Baked Beans. If you're planning a shopping trip this week, could you "bang in" some beans and add an extra tin to your basket?
Weather permitting, on Wednesday 16th September we will be creating a 'bean snake' around the playground - more details to follow.
Your child can add their tin to the 'snake' and by our calculations if everyone could donate, we should have around 300 tins - how amazing would that be to help our community!

Join Dudley's Children's Disability Register

If you have a child or young person with a disability or additional needs, you can register them on Dudley's Children's Disability Register.

The register helps Dudley understand the needs of children and young people across the borough, enabling them to plan, develop and improve local services and support. Information collected is used anonymously to help shape services provided by organisations such as leisure centres, youth groups and other local providers.

Registering is completely voluntary and does not affect any services or support your child or family may already receive. You'll be contacted once a year to check your details are up to date and to confirm you wish to remain on the register.

Free Dudley Zoo family day pass

As a thank you for registering, you can request a free family day pass to Dudley Zoo for:

2 adults
Up to 3 children aged 3–17 (children under 3 go free)
(Young people aged 16 and over are classed as adults.)

Complete the online registration form to get started.

For more information about the Children's Disability Register or the free family day pass, contact the Children with Disabilities Team on 0300 555 0050 or email [email protected].

As a special end of year treat, our Year 6 Leavers have designed next Tuesday's meal. They have chosen their favourite items that they think the other children across the school will love too.
Don't forget to book your child's 'hot' meal on the Arbor App.

We hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

High temperatures are forecast for most of the coming week. To help keep the children comfortable, they are welcome to wear their PE kit to school from Monday–Thursday if they prefer.

Please ensure that your child:

• brings plenty of water in a refillable bottle

• has a sun hat

• arrives with sun cream already applied (and, if possible, brings some to reapply during the day).

The weather on Friday is currently forecast to be slightly cooler, so children will be expected to wear their normal school uniform on that day. We will continue to monitor the forecast and, if temperatures are expected to rise again, we will inform you of any changes on Thursday afternoon.

If you have any concerns about the heatwave, please do not hesitate to contact a member of SLT in the usual way.

Year 1 and 2 have had a wonderful morning at the Sycamore centre. The children did lots of exploring and were excellent ambassadors for Ashwood Park. Well done everybody!
