🌱🐞 Preschool children have been busy getting ready for autumn!

This week, they planted flowers and bulbs in planters and worked together to create a bug hotel for all the insects looking for a cosy home over the colder months. 🐝🍂

The children loved getting hands-on in nature, learning about how plants grow and why bugs are so important to our environment. Well done, everyone! 🌼🪲

The Parish Council continues their series of chat sessions with parishioners. This Saturday, Chair, Mark Cramer and Cllr Claudia Fisher chatted to several shoppers about local issues and concerns. The speed and volume of traffic through the village came up in several conversations, and another couple talked about parking violations around the Spierbridge Road during school drop-offs and sports fixtures and training. The office will take these concerns on board and consider how they can follow up within the parish or with the relevant bodies. We thank everyone who took time to talk with us.

Beautiful Blooms in Storrington
Despite multiple heatwaves and almost continuous drought conditions since Easter, Storrington is still enjoying all the beautiful flowers throughout the village.
As any gardener knows, keeping even one or two pots alive this year was a challenge but Storrington In Bloom and Greenfingers have been nurturing over 25 planters and hanging baskets throughout the high street.
We would like to thank the many volunteers and their watering cans for their personal dedication to ensuring the village looks so delightful. Special thanks are due to Ben and Neil for their heroic efforts with the watering cart.

The Parish Council is delighted to confirm that Architekton Architects has been appointed as the architect practice for the Recreation & Wellbeing Hub Project. This selection follows a thorough tender process over the last six weeks which attracted a wide range of very strong bids from 19 architect practices across the UK.

Architekton’s lead architect Rob Flanagan is a local resident who has personally invested significant time over 18 months in pulling together the feasibility study on the works needed for the Hub. There was tough competition in the final round of three firms, but Architekton were the standout because of their understanding of the project requirements, their relevant experience and their holistic and collaborative approach to project delivery. With their proposal that comprised the best overall balance of quality, cost and use of local consultants and contractors, the Parish Council voted unanimously in favour of Architekton.

The Parish Council will set up a dedicated page on the website shortly with all the latest Hub information, and the display in the leisure centre will be updated with input from the architect practice.

We would like to inform you of an upcoming change to the way reports and enquiries relating to Public Rights of Way are submitted.

From 2 October 2026, our team email inbox, [email protected], will no longer accept incoming reports or enquiries. Instead, all reports should be submitted using our online reporting form available on the Report a Problem webpage:

https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/land-waste-and-housing/public-paths-and-the-countryside/public-rights-of-way/report-a-problem-with-a-right-of-way/ -a-problem

The online form provides a more effective way of reporting issues, enabling users to:

• Pinpoint the exact location of a problem on an interactive map.
• Provide detailed information about the issue.
• Upload photographs to support their report.

The webpage also explains how reports are prioritised and the timescales we work to when investigating different types of issues. All reports submitted through the form are logged and managed according to their priority.

For further information about how Public Rights of Way are inspected and maintained across West Sussex, please visit:

https://www.westsussex.gov.uk/land-waste-and-housing/public-paths-and-the-countryside/public-rights-of-way/inspection-and-maintenance-schedules/

To help prepare for this transition, an automated email response will be introduced ahead of the closure date to direct users to the online reporting service.

We would be grateful if you could share this information with relevant colleagues, partner organisations, local groups, and members of your community as appropriate.

Thank you for your support.

Kind regards,

The Public Rights of Way Team
