"The situation is becoming more and more tense. The surveillance drones never stop, and the bombing is increasing as well.

Attacks can happen suddenly without any evacuation warning, and sometimes there are sudden evacuation orders for any area at any time, followed by bombardment.

People flee leaving everything behind."

It sounds like a scene from a film, doesn't it?

But, this is real life.

Everyday life.

This is part of the latest update from Ekram, the mother of the family we support in Gaza. They are just six among more than two million people trapped by Israel's blockade of Gaza.

Join us today and every Saturday as we gather in solidarity with Ekram and her children, the families trapped in Gaza, and the families trapped in the Occupied West Bank.

Today, May 15th, is Nakba Day for Palestinians - the 'catastrophe'.

During the establishment of the state of Israel in 1948, Zionist militias and the new Israeli army brutally ethnically cleansed approximately three quarters of all Palestinians from their homeland.

Israeli forces destroyed more than 530 Palestinian villages and carried out several massacres, killing around 15,000 people.

78% of Palestine’s historic territory was captured and used to establish what is now Israel. The remaining land was divided into today’s Occupied Palestinian Territory – the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.

Palestinians call this the Nakba (“catastrophe”).

As we know, the Nakba didn’t end in 1948 - the persecution, violence, and occupation has continued ever since - this is the Ongoing Nakba.

Hundreds of thousands of those expelled and their descendants now live in refugee camps in the occupied West Bank, Gaza and across the region, including Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Many still preserve keys, deeds and documents to homes in what is today Israel, passing them down through generations as symbols of their displacement and of a future return.

Join us tomorrow to stand in solidarity with Palestinians - those trapped in Gaza and the Occupied West Bank, and the millions of Palestinian refugees displaced from their homes and their land.

At least two children a day have been killed or injured by Israeli forces since the ceasefire for Gaza was agreed.

Between October 2023 and 1st February 2023, at least 21,289 children have been killed.

At least 235 children have been killed in the Occupied West Bank since 2023.

Bombs and snipers aren't the only threat to innocent lives - every child in Gaza under the age of five is malnourished. 121,000 children aged five - 17 need essential nutritional assistance.

Israel's blockade of Gaza means there is a shortage of fresh water, a shortage of fuel for cooking, a lack of essential medicines and healthcare provision meaning treatable diseases are rife, and construction materials are banned to prevent people from rebuilding safe, warm, dry shelter.

It is not controversial to call for an end to this enforced human suffering.

Please, speak up - however you can.

Join us today to stand together in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

Israel continues to blockade Gaza, preventing vital food, water, medicine, and healthcare supplies from reaching the weak and malnourished population.

The IDF continues to kill civilians - like the little girl shot in the head as she was in a maths class, in a make-shift school tent.

Ritaj Abdulrahman Rihan was just nine-years-old.

She is one of up to 37,000 Palestinian children murdered since October 2023.

In the Occupied West Bank, Israel's arpartheid and persecution continues to make everyday life impossible. Settlers continue to terrorise native families, killing their livestock, their crops, and demolishing their homes.

Through all this, the UK Government continues to support the Israeli military, with equipment and surveillance flights - making us all complicit in Israel's war crimes.

Together, our voices are louder.

Together, we can be heard.

Together, we can make a difference.

Will you use your voice for Ritaj? For Hind? For all the innocent lives brutally ended?

The commander of an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) battalion implicated in the killing of five-year-old Hind Rajab in Gaza has been seriously wounded in Lebanon – and replaced by the soldier who was in charge of the unit at the time of her murder.

The injured commander, who took over the role after Rajab’s killing in 2024, was airlifted to a hospital by helicopter yesterday after sustaining severe injuries during “operational activity” in the south of the country, according to the IDF.

He was not identified in the statement but was leading the 401st Armored Brigade’s 52nd Battalion before being hospitalised.

At the time of Rajab’s death, the battalion’s commander was lieutenant colonel Daniel Ella, who has now temporarily returned to the leadership role in place of the commander who was injured, the Times of Israel reported.

Ella is accused of direct involvement in Rajab’s killing in a complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) by lawyers from the Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF). The 120-page filing cites satellite evidence that it says shows Israeli Merkava IV tanks fired at the child’s vehicle.

Some outlets initially reported it was Ella who was injured in Lebanon, but new details published by Israeli media indicate he has been in and out of the role since July 2024 and that it was a successor who was injured.

Ella has not commented publicly on HRF’s ICC filing against him. The IDF has claimed, contrary to extensive evidence, that its troops did not appear to be in the area of Gaza City where Rajab’s body was found on 29 January 2024.

Rajab was killed along with six of her family members when an Israeli tank fired 335 rounds at the vehicle they were travelling in. A tank then fired at an ambulance that came to help them, killing two paramedics.

After her six relatives were killed, Rajab was stranded in the car and spoke for hours on the phone to Palestine Red Crescent Society paramedics.

“Come and get me,” she told them. “I'm so scared, please come.” She was found dead on 10 February after the IDF withdrew from the area.

HRF’s founder, Dyab Abou Jahjah, said on Tuesday that the 52nd was “arguably the most brutal armored battalion in the IDF”.

At least 21,289 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces beyween 7th October 2023 and 1st February 2026.

These are the confirmed figures reported by UNICEF.

However, the actual number is likely to be far higher, with academic reports* estimating that around 27,000 to 34,000 children under the age of 15 have been killed.

The UK Government continues to make us all complicit. Even in the last 24 hours, there have been reports of UK arms firms attempting to send military equipment to Israel.

This must stop.

Killing children must stop.

The genocide of Palestinians must stop.

Stand with us each Saturday as we continue to raise awareness and call for UK action to hold Israel and its allies accountable for their crimes against humanity.

Join us between 1pm - 2pm in Perceval Square, Stornoway, or wherever you are across the Western Isles.
