After the success of last year’s Stopham Festival they are delighted to be holding the event again this year. Last year’s festival was in aid of the restoration for the historic stain glass window in the church. The window dates back to 1630 and was made by Roeland Flemish. The window is being successfully restored and all being well will be back on display for this year’s festival. This year the festival hopes to raise more money towards other church restorations. Stopham is a charming traditional English village where time has stood still. The village has been largely protected from waves of development and retail shops, with no more than 40 houses and just over 80 residents. The beautiful location of the village really is a step back in time and the quaint church still holds regular traditional mass.

About Stopham wine -
Simon Woodhead, Winemaking Director -
Simon used to design automotive sensors at TAG McLaren F1 before studying Viticulture at Plumpton Agricultural College in East Sussex.

Tom Bartlett, Assistant Winemaker - Tom also studied Viticulture at Plumpton Agricultural College, graduating in 2012. Tom has also done vintages in California and New Zealand.

Kivlan O'Brien, Harvest Manager - Kivlan is a professional gardener in Hampstead, but joins us each year to manage the harvest and grape processing.

Simon Woodhead planted Stopham vineyard in 2007 with the aim of making the best English still white wines. This is no easy task, given the rising quality of English and Welsh wines. Better viticultural practices, improved winemaking techniques and technology, international training and increasing temperatures are all contributing to these quality improvements.

Simon was joined by Tom Bartlett in 2010 just in time for the first vintage. Both Simon and Tom studied at Plumpton College in East Sussex, where they became passionate about English wine and developed the belief that we can produce something special from our land.
