The Body Coach Foundation’s first grant window is now open. The Get Kids Moving Fund will award grants ranging from £1,000–£10,000, to organisations working with children and young people to get them active and support their wellbeing through movement.
The Body Coach Foundation believe every child deserves the chance to move more, feel good, build confidence, and live a healthier, happier life. That’s why this first grant window will focus on organisations helping children and young people.
If you’re part of a charity, sports club or community group working with young people and could benefit from funding, they would love you to apply.
They are expecting lots of organisations to apply, so are starting with a short Expression of Interest form to help manage demand and quickly review applications. They’ll be taking applications throughout June, and if you’re shortlisted, they will then invite you to complete a full grant application in July.
Expression of Interest closes: 30th June
Shortlisted organisations contacted: July
Successful organisations announced: August

Thank you to those that came along to Portlethen Library (which is at the Academy), on Monday afternoon and gave us their views on living locally. There's still time to take part in the online place plan survey if you couldn't make it along on Monday.
While we were at the library we were impressed by the facilities on offer; the amazing selection of kids books and the lovely play area, the lego, the conference/meeting room ... such a great source of local information and even free veg seeds!

The Connected Hubs – Community Spaces as Vibrant Workspaces session explores how village halls and community spaces across Scotland can become part of a light, connected network of coworking and community hubs.
This event will look at practical ways spaces can be used better during weekdays through shared working space, digital access, and flexible community services.
Drawing on real-world examples and practitioner experience, the discussion will focus on what is actually working, the barriers involved (such as cost, connectivity, and capacity), and how small-scale pilots can be tested without heavy infrastructure or volunteer burden.
Participants will explore what a “connected hubs” model could look like in practice, and identify simple, realistic next steps for developing community spaces as part of a wider workspace network.
The session will take place online on Wednesday 3 June between 12–1pm and will be hosted in partnership with Scottish Rural Action and Social Enterprise Scotland.

Coming up next month!

Living Well in Kincardine & Mearns Community Appointment Day, taking place on Thursday 11 June, from 1pm to 7:30pm, at Stonehaven Town Hall.

The free event is being organised by GP practices across Kincardine & Mearns in partnership with Aberdeenshire Health & Social Care Partnership, NHS Grampian, Live Life Aberdeenshire, community organisations, charities and local voluntary groups.

The aim of the event is simple: to make it easier for people to understand their health, find local support, and take small steps towards living well.
On the day, people will be able to:
• Have friendly conversations with healthcare professionals about “what matters to you”
• Access health checks related to heart health, blood pressure and diabetes risk (limited places available)
• Take part in functional fitness checks for those aged 50 and over
• Meet local community groups, charities and activity providers
• Learn about practical support available close to home
• Take part in Taster sessions of Yoga and Tai Chi

While some people aged 35 to 60 have been invited directly by their GP practice, the event is open to everyone. You don’t need an appointment to attend, and there’s no pressure to undertake any tests or get involved in anyway that people are uncomfortable with.

The Community Appointment Day will focus on living well with a particular emphasis on helping people to understand their risk of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and early signs of frailty and loss of functional fitness. .

Living Well in K&M reflects a growing focus on prevention and early support, bringing services together under one roof and into the heart of the community.
