Flooding can happen in Scotland at any time of the year and has the potential to be devastating for those affected, from the loss of possessions, destruction of homes and businesses, to life changing injuries or loss of life. The impact on the wider community can last for a long time after the event itself.

🚨 Planning a Controlled Burn? Let Us Know First. 🚨

Stonehaven Community Fire Station is asking all local residents, land managers, farmers, and gardeners to contact us before carrying out any controlled burning, no matter how small.

This includes garden waste burns, muirburn, and land management fires.
Letting us know helps prevent false alarms and unnecessary emergency call outs β€” keeping our crews available for real emergencies.

βœ” Please report ALL planned burns to:
πŸ“ž Dundee Control Room – 01382 835804

Before you burn, remember to:
β€’ Have a burn plan in place
β€’ Check weather and wind conditions
β€’ Keep the burn small and manageable
β€’ Have enough people, water, and tools on site
β€’ Ensure it is fully extinguished before leaving β€” and recheck the next day
If a fire becomes out of control, call 999 immediately.

For more information visit our website - https://www.firescotland.gov.uk/outdoors/wildfires/controlled-burning-and-muirburn-for-land-managers/

Together, we can reduce wildfire risk and keep our community safe.
Stay responsible. Stay safe. πŸ”₯πŸ‘¨β€πŸš’

It has been a very busy year for Stonehaven fire station with just under 300 call outs and 54 extra events!

Last night at our final drill night, WC Taylor
treated the crew to a takeaway before a very competitive quiz between the crew.

We are determined to recognise achievements at Stonehaven and despite each and every firefighter doing their bit, there is one particular firefighter who was rewarded for her incredible commitment.

Firefighter Michelle Brownie has hit the ground running since joining us at Stonehaven, attending most call outs and always volunteering to do extras, here she is receiving Stonehaven's Firefighter Of The Year Award for 2025. Well done Michelle Brownie

Our final addition of 2025 to Stonehaven fire station and adding a bit of Spanish flair is Firefighter Claudio Lopez. Claudio has been responding to incidents with the crew for a few weeks now following the completion of his initial course in Newbridge. You may recognise him from Pinky Promise - A&H or possibly the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford. Either way, he has now also committed to helping protect the community! We are delighted to welcome Claudio to the crew. Buena suerte Claudio!
