Our first Summer in the Square event kicks off on Saturday 13th June, at the old market square on Stokesley’s High Street.
Here’s who you can look forward to this first weekend!
🎵Stuart and Janine – 11.00 - 11.45
Introducing our first Summer in the Square performers — Janine Peacock & Stuart Henderson!
This incredible duo have been making music together for over 20 years, ever since they met studying at the prestigious Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. The combination of classical guitar and cello is something truly special — rich, warm, and endlessly versatile — and Janine and Stuart use it to take audiences on a journey from Baroque classics through to Latin rhythms and modern popular favourites.
Whether you're a classical music lover or just looking for a beautiful summer morning out, this is one not to miss.
🎵 Angela and Keith – 12.00 – 12.45
This Barnard Castle-based vocal and guitar duo are carving out a real following with their warm blend of country and contemporary folk. Teasing rhymes, heartfelt harmonies, and a set that mixes much-loved covers with their own self-penned songs that audiences are falling for in a big way.
They might describe themselves as relatively newly formed, but there's nothing new about the joy they bring to a crowd. Come and discover them for yourself.
🎵 Anita Aslin 1.00 – 1.45
Introducing one of our Summer in the Square performers — Anita Aslin of Harping On.
Anita is one of the North East's most accomplished harpists, trained at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She's performed for royalty, played with major orchestras, appeared on Netflix, and taken her music everywhere from St Paul's Cathedral to Paraguay!
We're absolutely delighted to welcome her to the Old Market Square this summer. Whether you're a lifelong harp fan or you've never heard one live before, this is a truly special experience.
🎵 Harlequin North West Morris will be performing all around Stokesley during the day, details to follow of their planned locations and timings.
This event has been made possible with the support of David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and the Vibrant and Sustainable High Street Fund and York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
