So-Sew W.I

So-Sew W.I We aim to keep all of the traditional values of the W.I, but to introduce a modern, 21st century twist. Inspiring women since 2014. Come and join us!

Meeting: 1st Thu of the month (2nd in Jan / May)

Time: 7-9pm

We would like all ages to come and join us and we pride ourselves on learning from the experiences of others and who have a passion to keep the local village community alive. If you're looking for something different to do, want to learn a new skill, share conversations or campaign o

n issues in the local area that matter to you, then get in touch and come to one of our meetings. Our meetings are informal and you’re welcome to bring along a glass of fizz and for the designated drivers, we offer a lovely cuppa. We are not your stereotypical Jam and Jerusalem. The W.I celebrated its centenary in 2015 and currently has 212,000 members in over 6,600 WIs, so what are you waiting for?

Wow! Tonight’s meeting was packed with amazing hands-on experiences and some surprising facts.

We were fascinated to learn that the organisation predominantly takes in rescue animals and were given numerous examples of animals found in local areas after their owners realised they were not suitable pets. One particularly memorable example was a huge wolf that had been discovered living in a home in Hanley.

We were also amazed to discover how these fabulous animals have contributed to the development of new cancer treatments, all without being harmed.

Comments from members confirmed that this was a truly wonderful experience ❤️

🦁🐯🐻 Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! 🐻🐯🦁

Okay, so we might not have lions, tigers and bears joining us at the village hall tomorrow, but we do have a collection of animals that Sir David Attenborough would be proud of!

We're delighted to be welcoming The unconventional Menagerie for an evening of fascinating animals, incredible facts and up-close encounters (if that's your vibe!).

Expect snakes, lizards, parrots, creepy crawlies and some cute and cuddly friends too.

➡️ Penkhull Village Hall

Visitors are welcome to attend for a £6 visitor fee. Drop us a message if you'd like to come along and discover what your local Penkhull WI is all about!

💜 REMINDER💜

We have no WI meeting this week, as always our May will be Thursday 14th May at Penkhull Village Hall.

In February 2027, we're producing the stage premiere of Academy award winner Rachel Shenton's Gladstone Girls, in association with Slick Films

Set in the Potteries, the story explores the lives of a group of female pottery workers determined to protect their cherished 'Curl Friday' factory tradition.

Celebrating the spirit of working class women whose voices helped shape a movement, and based on the original podcast from Slick Films, this play blends heart, humour and history for a vivid theatrical production filled with warmth.

Dates: Sat 6 - Sat 27 February 2027

Location: New Vic Theatre , Newcastle-under-Lyme

Happy International Women’s Day!

A big thank you to Jess from the RAF Museum for delivering such an inspiring presentation and sharing the incredible stories of women who have made their mark in aviation history.

It was fantastic for our members and visitors to hear these powerful stories and to come together to celebrate the achievements, strength and impact of women past and present.

Moments like this are a great reminder of how important it is to keep sharing and learning from these inspiring journeys.
