🚦 **Have Your Say on Proposed Red Routes in Burslem** 🚦

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is proposing the introduction of Red Routes along Market Street and Moorland Road, from Westport Road to Jackson Street, to help reduce congestion, improve road safety, and keep traffic moving efficiently.

Key features of the proposal include:
🔴 Replacement of existing yellow lines with Red Route restrictions.
🚫 No stopping except in designated loading bays and disabled parking areas.
📦 Loading bays provided to support local businesses.
🛣️ Improved traffic flow and reduced delays for all road users.
📹 CCTV enforcement to help ensure compliance.

Residents, businesses, commuters, and visitors are invited to review the proposals and provide feedback.

🔧 Pothole Pro Works

The Pothole Pro will be carrying out small patch repairs to the carriageway.

These include:

• 08/06- Cauldon Road- Hanley Park, Joiners Square and Shelton
• 09/06- Lytton Street- Hartshill Park and Stoke
• 10/06- 174-176 Cobridge Road footway works- Etruria and Hanley
• 11/06- New Inn Lane jct Werburgh Drive- Hanford, Newstead and Trentham

Works to improve carriageways in the city continue this week.

Schemes include:

🚧 Park Hall Road – Highway Safety Scheme 🚧

Following a petition to reduce speed by the introduction of speed cameras along Parkhall Road we’re thrilled to share plans for the Park Hall Road Highway Safety Scheme!

Due to data received from traffic counts and the SSRP (Staffordshire Safer Roads Partnership) decision not to install cameras we propose the following measures;

We have now commenced to the public consultation phase; the plans are now ready to view below.

Key Proposed Enhancements:

✅ The existing 40 mph speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph to enhance safety for all road users.
✅ Speed humps, cushions and traffic islands are to be installed along Park Hall Road to reduce traffic speed.
✅ Pedestrian Crossing Point on junction of Glandore road will be relocated to the East of the junction to prevent conflict with larger vehicles.
✅ A yellow box junction will be introduced at the junction of Horton Drive and Park Hall Road to improve visibility for drivers exiting Horton Drive.

Community-Driven Updates:

🔸 Safer crossing point to provide improved pedestrian safety.
🔸 Reduced vehicle speeds along Parkhall Road.
🔸 Reduced carbon emissions and noise levels.

Next Steps:
Following the conclusion of this consultation. Amendments where required will be made and Final designs will be completed.
Works will be then be programmed and once confirmed, a start date will be shared with the public.

🚧 Watergate Street – Highway Safety Scheme 🚧

We’re thrilled to share plans for the Watergate Street Highway Safety Scheme! We have now commenced to the public consultation phase; the plans are now ready to view below. We aim to commence works within the school holidays this year to minimise disruption.

Key Proposed Enhancements:
✅ New Crossing Point: Zebra Crossing point on Watergate Street from St Mary's C of E School to the car park.
✅Traffic Calming: A raised table speed hump feature will be incorporated to slow traffic on approach to the crossing point. With additional humps across Harewood Street and Some of Ladywell Road
✅ Additional restrictions: To prevent dangerous parking situations which limit visibility of pedestrians and drivers.
✅ Removal Of Parking Bays: Removal of Parking Bays on Watergate Street to prevent dangerous parking situations which limit visibility of pedestrians and drivers, ensuring there is visibility for pedestrians using the crossing.

Community-Driven Updates:
🔸 Safer crossing point for children to access the St Mary's C of E (A) Primary School on Watergate Street.
🔸 Reduced vehicle speeds on Watergate Street, Harewood Street and Ladywell Road.

Next Steps:
Following the conclusion of the consultation:
🔹Amendments where required will be made and Final designs completed.
🔹Works will be scheduled and once confirmed a start date will be shared with the public.

🚧 Whieldon Road – Proposed Highway Safety Scheme 🚧

Stoke-on-Trent City Council is proposing a series of road safety and accessibility improvements along Whieldon Road, between Beech Grove and Old Whieldon Road.

Following a road safety assessment carried out in response to requests from local residents and ward councillors, a number of concerns relating to vehicle speeds, accessibility, and road safety have been identified. The proposed scheme aims to improve safety, visibility, accessibility, and overall road conditions for all users including pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, wheelchair users, and public transport passengers.

We have now commenced the public consultation phase; the plans are now ready to view below.

Key Proposed Enhancements:

✅ Installation of traffic calming features, including flat-top humps, speed cushions, and a raised table junction.
✅ Carriageway and footway resurfacing works to improve overall road condition and user experience.
✅ Refreshed and enhanced road markings to improve clarity and visibility.
✅ Introduction of protected parking bays between Minshall Street and Beech Grove, supported by new waiting restrictions to improve traffic flow.
✅ Provision of a new shared raised table crossing to assist pedestrians and cyclists.

Community-Driven Updates:

🔸 Reduction in vehicle speeds to help reduce collisions and near misses.
🔸 Improved pedestrian crossing facilities to support safer movement throughout the area.
🔸 Enhanced accessibility and road conditions for residents and visitors.
🔸 Introduction of cycle crossing.

Next Steps:

Following the conclusion of the consultation:

🔹 Amendments, where required, will be made and final designs completed
🔹 Works will be scheduled and, once confirmed, a start date will be shared with the public
🔹 Subject to a successful outcome from the consultation process, works are currently planned to commence later in 2026
