Hello to new followers 👋
My name's Mandie and if you don't know, here's a little something about us.
👨👩👧👦 We are a family (myself, Pete, Evie and George) who live in a quiet area of Longton and our 2 youngest children are both neurodivergent.
🎉 We found over the years that we couldn't get to enjoy some of the joys and celebrations in life, other families could.
🎄 One such example was going to the Christmas Light Switch On in town and experiencing the atmosphere that came with it.
Our son particulary couldn't cope with the overwhelmimg sounds, smells and crowds, and we knew we wouldn't be the only ones that felt this way.
💡 So that's when I came up with the idea of Benfleet Lights.
🎶 I wanted to create a beautiful, sensory display with music and lights that would hopefully fill any child's heart with joy, love and hope, as well as to give them a moment to forget everything else around them. 🥰
💜🦋 Alongside that, I wanted to raise money for the children's charity Caudwell Children who diagnosed our son, George, with autism a few years back.
🤗 We found their support to be invaluable for both our son and us as a family.
🎃 We eventually decided to include Halloween, as our children have never liked the idea of 'Trick or Treat', as they find a lot of social situations overwhelming as well.
🤗 So for us to create a safe, welcoming display for all families to visit was something I again wanted to do.
Anyway, that's us.
