Ladies this Thursday is our Annual Meeting so we will be re viewing the previous year followed by a small buffet.

Also it’s our Trading Stall so have a look in your cupboards for things to sell

Whiston WI is a small friendly group of ladies from across the area. Our April meeting is an Open Meeting which is open to everyone including men. The speaker for this month is Caroline Spiers, the talk is entitled
“ My Mum flew Spitfires in WW2”

We meet in Whiston village hall 7:30 on April 9th. There is no charge but we will be selling raffle tickets. Tea and coffee are provided. No need to book. Hope to see you there

We all look a bit down here but we really did have a good time. At this point we are listening to a very funny sketch with Alison and Elizabeth.

We had a wonderful feast and sang carols and a WI version of the1 12 days of Christmas.

At our last meeting we celebrated Margaret’s 85th Birthday. We were treated to pictures of her life and family and her family tree. We all enjoyed the buffet and of course her cake.

It was a good night with some shared memories and laughter around what things wer like when we were young

Last night was our craft night organised by Di and Bridget. Members made a silk painting card and a lavender bag. Everyone successfully completed both items. For some of the evening there was complete silence as members concentrated on the task on hand. This is a very rare occurrence at our meetings but in only a short while the chatter and laughter began again.

Monday is our ten pin bowling out.

Septembers meeting saw a beautiful autumn arrangement by Jacquie. Our speaker was Teresa Fox-Wells who talked to us about vintage clothing. Teresa was very interesting and amusing - all the garments were passed around and we could see how mend and make do was practiced in the past.

Mel made a delicious cake to celebrate 110 years of WI

Our next meeting is our annual craft evening. It is also our bring and buy event that we call Trading Stall. Don’t forget ladies to bring out your unwanted or surplus items.
