It is with great sadness that we have to announce that our annual dinner is cancelled this year due to lack of numbers.

It is very likely that the Branch will no longer host large gatherings.

The annual dinner, although great fun and hugely entertaining, is only a part of what we do at Stoke Branch, Aliwal Troop.

We will continue with our monthly meetings, Branch days out, Branch meals and support other hard working branches with their functions.

We are of course always available if anyone needs any kind of help or support.

Branch meetings are on the first Saturday of each month at 8pm at the Jubilee bar in the Queensbury Hub, Trent Vale.

Good evening everyone.

Every Lancer, serving and veteran, represents countless stories of courage, dedication, and sacrifice that have shaped our nation’s history.

The bond between those who served together creates a unique kind of trust and understanding. A friendship that lasts forever.

Each generation of veterans builds upon the legacy of those who came before and there is a camaraderie and respect between those generations.

But.

Quis Separabit - Who shall separate us.

Only ourselves it seams.

Friends, It is with a heavy heart that I must announce that this year will be our final dinner. We will go out with a bang, but with such low numbers attending we cannot continue to host large functions and will instead concentrate on events solely for the Branch.

I hope you can join us for what will be our last hurrah.

It will be a night to remember and the end of our branch annual dinners.

Looking forward to seeing you all at our anniversary dinner celebrating 50 years of our branch on Saturday 19th October.

Menu
Starters - Baked garlic mushrooms with parmesan breadcrumbs
- Course pate with cranberry pickle with sultana toast
Mains- Roast beef and Yorkshire puddings
- Roast turkey and stuffing with pigs in blankets
Desserts- Sticky toffee pudding
- Cheese platter with fruit and chutney

Entertainment will be provided by the Trentham brass band followed by a disco.

There will be free return transport from Hanley Premier inn to the Floral Hall, Tunstall.

Aliwal Troop, Stoke Branch, The Royal Lancers (Queen Elizabeths' Own) Annual Dinner will take place on Saturday 19th October 2024 at the Floral Hall, Tunstall, Queens Avenue, ST6 6EE.

The Floral Hall is situated in Tunstall Park and is perfect for a special dinner to Celebrate our 50-year anniversary. The hall will only hold 120 seated, so please book as early as possible.

There will be a three-course meal served starting at 6.30pm. After grace, we will have the fine music of the Trentham Brass Band until 10pm which will be followed by a disco provided by GD Sounds.
The night will end at 0030am with last orders at 11.45pm. The coach for the hotel will leave at 00.15am.

There will be a shuttle service on from the Hanley Premier inn ST1 5NH to the venue at 5.30pm and returning at 00.15am.

Aliwal troop Stoke Branch Golden Anniversary Dinner 19 October 2024

The Royal Lancers, Aliwal Stoke Branch, Annual Dinner will take place on the Saturday 19th October 2024 at the Floral Hall Tunstall Queens Avenue ST6 6EE.

The venue is situated at the Tunstall Park and is a very tranquil place for this special dinner to Celebrate our 50-year anniversary.

Unfortunately, the hall will only hold 120 seated, so please book as early as possible.

There will be a three-course meal served, (menu attached) starting at 6;30pm after grace, we will have the fine music of the Trentham Brass Band for you to enjoy that good old military music and fantastic musical set pieces by the band.

The Band will finish at 10pm and the disco will take over offering good music of your choice. Also, you have the opportunity of Karaoke if you wish.

Unfortunately, the night will end at 0030am as the hall will have to be vacated by then. Last orders will be at 11.45pm. The coach for the hotel will leave at 00.15am (coach details attached)

Due To the Hotel Situation in Stoke-On-Trent, we will be putting a shuttle service on from the Hanley Premier inn ST1 5NH to the venue at 05.30pm and returning at 00.15am.

Directions for the Premier Inn(ST4 8JG) From M6(J15), take exit on roundabout for A500. Exit on slip road sign posted Trentham. At roundabout take 3rd exit onto A34 follow road for 1 mile. Hotel is located on right in Trentham Gardens. If going direct to the venue at the roundabout take the first exit onto A34 Newcastle Rd for 1/2 mile on the left, the Jubilee Club, (ST4 6PZ) The Journey from the Premier inn to the venue is only 7 minutes and transport is provided.

The Royal Lancers, Aliwal Troop, Stoke Branch, Annual Gathering will take place on the Saturday 21st October 2023 at the Jubilee Club, Trent Vale.
The venue holds 200 seated and has a large stage and a full-size bar. This will be open from 1800hrs. The entertainment for the night will be the Trentham Brass band from 1900hrs until 2200hrs and then light music and the amazing voices of Frank & Jo Foy and Yvonne Oakden who will be singing a few songs. Also, our normal raffle and Auction will take place.
The hot and cold buffet will be on from 2000hrs on so you can eat and talk and relax and enjoy the night.

We have struggled this year to find a venue that can accommodate our function due to the number of hotels in Stoke on Trent being used for Immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Our function will now take place in the Jubilee Club in Trent Vale and the closest hotel is the Premier Inn at Trentham Gardens, Stone Road, Stoke On Trent,ST4 8JG. Sat Nav Directions: ST4 8AX.
