🎤✨ Student Council Open Mic Night ✨🎤
What a fantastic evening at Aquinas! Our Student Council hosted a brilliant Open Mic
Night, bringing students together through music, performance and creativity.
With a great mix of acts and styles, the atmosphere was exactly what an open mic should
be, relaxed, supportive and full of community spirit. 🌟
Tom Dixon praised the event as a fantastic way to promote the Student Council across
college, adding that plans are already underway to make it even bigger and better next
year 👀

Frantic Assembly Workshop — Drama and Theatre A Level
Our A Level Drama students took part in an exciting and intensive Frantic Assembly physical theatre workshop, led by one of our specialist practitioners.
Students began by engaging in a series of dynamic ensemble-building tasks designed to develop trust, communication, and physical awareness which were essential foundations for the collaborative, contact-based work that followed. Building on this, students explored Frantic Assembly’s iconic rock and ledge, jetpack, and flying lifts, working with impressive confidence and sensitivity to create powerful, expressive physical images.
The session culminated in two performance pieces: a chair duet sequence exploring relationship, tension, and status through precise, choreographed movement, and a recreation of the train station scene from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, in which students used ensemble physicality, gesture and rhythm to bring the overwhelming sensory experience of the scene to life.
The commitment, bravery, and artistry shown by our students was exceptional -a true testament to the ambition and quality of our A Level Drama and Theatre programme.

🥾⛰ D of E Gold Practice Expedition – Lake District
Following their training walk earlier this year in January, our students recently completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Practice Expedition in the stunning Lake District, taking on the challenge of navigating routes, carrying expedition kit, camping and working together as a team.
The expedition tested resilience, teamwork and independence! A huge well done to everyone involved for their effort, positivity and determination throughout the trip 👏

🏆✨ Sports Presentation Evening 2026 ✨🏆

What an incredible evening celebrating everything sport at Aquinas!

On Thursday 7th May, students and staff came together to recognise the dedication, teamwork and achievements across our Lower and Upper Sixth sports teams. Awards included Coaches’ Player, Players’ Player, Outstanding Achievement Awards and Contribution Awards across sports such as football, netball and basketball.

The evening also celebrated our overall Student of the Year and the huge contribution made by students and staff throughout the year.

A fantastic night had by all, and a reminder of the brilliant opportunities, commitment and community within Aquinas Sport. Staff couldn’t have been prouder 👏

🎬✨ Salford University Spring Taster Day

Our students had an excellent day at University of Salford exploring life at MediaCity recently!

With hands-on workshops in studio production, podcasting, sports reporting and digital technology, students got a real feel for creative courses and industry environments.

They also toured the facilities and worked with expert tutors, making the most of every opportunity. 👏

A fantastic insight into future pathways and university life.
