Blue Bins

♻️ BLUE BINS ARE GOING BACK TO FORTNIGHTLY COLLECTIONS

Before Christmas, blue bin collections for paper, card and cardboard will return to a fortnightly service.

This was a commitment in our manifesto and Stockport Labour have been pushing for it ever since. Today it has been confirmed. ✅

📅 Nothing changes yet, so stick to your current collection days. New calendars will be published next month and posted through every door before the change.

We are chasing the start date now and will let you know the minute we have it.

Thanks to everyone who got in touch with our councillors. It worked.

Fury as rows of bins on streets aren't collected in Stockport

We've seen some questions about bins with lids left open not being collected, so we wanted to clarify our policy.

We know it's frustrating when your bin isn't emptied.

Our policy hasn't changed: bins should be presented with the lid fully closed.

If a bin is overfilled and the lid is left open, it won't be collected. This is to help keep our collection crews safe.

While some bins may have been collected in the past despite the lid being slightly open, crews have recently been reminded to apply the existing policy consistently across the borough.
