VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: How does a proxy vote work?
Step 1: Choose someone to act as your proxy - they must be registered to vote.
Step 2: Request or download a proxy vote application form and return the completed form to us.
Step 3: Tell your proxy how you wish to vote.
Step 4: Your proxy will attend your polling station and vote on your behalf.
Step 5: They can also vote by post on your behalf, but this MUST be set up before the postal vote deadline.

The deadline to apply to vote by post in the Stirling Ward 2 by-election on 1st October has now passed. If you cannot vote in person, you can still apply for a proxy vote until 5pm on Wednesday 23rd September 2026. For more info check out www.centralscotland-vjb.gov.uk/absent-vote

If you are an existing postal voter, this is also the last day that you can cancel your postal vote or change it to a proxy vote. There's still time to arrange an absent vote if you are going to miss the Stirling Ward 2 by-election on the 1st of October. You have until 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday 16th September) to apply for or change a postal vote, and until 5pm on Wednesday 23rd September to apply for a proxy vote.
