🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️ REGIONAL ATHLETICS 2026 🏅

What a fantastic day for 1019 (City of Stirling) Squadron! 🙌

Our cadets came away with an incredible 8 medals 🥇🥈🥉, helping Central Scotland Wing secure an amazing 2nd place overall! 👏🎉

A huge congratulations to every single cadet who competed today. Your hard work, determination and team spirit were brilliant to see! 💙

On Sunday 1019 (City of Stirling) Sqn was at 661 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, RAF Kirknewton for a morning's set of Gliding Introduction Flights. The weather initially was not good but, as forecast, it cleared mid morning to allow all 4 cadets to get 2 launches each and experience the thrill of a winch launch. For one, it was their first time in a gliding and all the cadets thoroughly enjoyed their flights. It was also a good morning for their escorting staff member as, after some 14 years, the opportunity arose for them to get back in a glider and also get a launch.

Now, did you know that a glider needed to be squeegeed before flight if it was wet? If not, you do now and there are photos to show it happening too.

A great morning's gliding and thanks to the volunteer staff and FSCs at 661 Volunteer Gliding Squadron, RAF Kirknewton for enabling it to happen.
