3rd Place in Region First Aid!

Today, cadets from 1140 headed up to RAF Northolt for the regional competition day comprising cadets from across Surrey, Sussex, Middlesex, London and Kent. Across those 100+ units our team from 1140 came third overall which is a major step up for our First Aid team and warranted for all their hard work.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve loved meeting so many young people during our SGS school assemblies — and it’s been fantastic to see our new intake at 1140 (Steyning) Squadron starting to take shape.

Last call! This Thursday at 7:30pm, we’re welcoming new recruits aged 12-17 to join our squadron for a taster evening. The Air Cadets is about much more than uniforms – it’s a safe, supportive environment where young people can:
- Build confidence and leadership skills
- Take part in aviation, survival, and adventure activities
- Go on camps, trips, and unforgettable experiences
- Make new friends and feel part of a team

This year at 1140, we've done a wide variety of activities, and we're now on the lookout for new recruits to come join us for the year ahead. We're holding a taster evening on September 11 at the Squadron starting at 7:30pm. You can find us opposite the Triangle Green on Shooting Field Steyning.

To recap, this last year we've:

- Sent a cadet off for a gliding scholarship
- Did outdoor Air Rifle shooting
- Went on camp with East Grinstead Sqn.
- Assisted with the Duke Of Edinburgh awards day at Buckingham Palace
- First Aid
- Archery
- Leadership tasks on a Longmoor Camp
- Sent Cadets up in the air for an experience flight
- Did initial weapons training on the L98 Cadet Rifle
- Played Beach Volleyball in Brighton
- Took part in the Trafalgar Day parade in London
- Played rounders against Shoreham Sqn
- Took part in the Wing drill competitions
- Had our annual Sqn BBQ

Joining Year 8 in September and have an interest in aviation, the uniformed services or even just a sense of adventure? We're looking for new recruits to join us at 7pm on September 11th for a taster evening in Steyning at our Shooting field site.

Life as an air cadet is full of adventure and life enhancing experiences. When you join the RAF Air Cadets you will have the opportunity to try a range of exciting challenges. Our engaging training programme and close relationships with the Royal Air Force and other partners will help you reach your full potential. You will be able to gain and improve key life skills such as confidence, communication, physical and mental wellbeing, teamwork and leadership.
