Sussex has a secret. It’s a critical hub for international diplomacy.
For 75 years we’ve been convening leading thinkers, experts and policymakers in the heart of Sussex, to work on some of the world’s toughest challenges.
This week, a new free outdoor exhibition brings that work to life on Brighton seafront for the first time. The ‘Art of Diplomacy’ showcases photography by Graham Carlow, capturing the candid, human moments where real diplomacy happens. The exhibition marks Wilton Park's 80th anniversary and 75 years of calling Sussex home, celebrating the shared contribution to international peace and security.
The region has provided the warm welcome and acceptance of visitors from around the world which has been the bedrock of our international policy dialogues. This spirit has made Sussex an unlikely but nonetheless essential centre for global diplomatic engagement.
We hope that our friends and supporters across Sussex will enjoy learning more about the endeavour of progress through dialogue and will feel proud of all the region has achieved.
The ‘Art of Diplomacy’ is open now on Brighton seafront until 16 June. Free and open to all, with thanks to Brighton & Hove City Council for creating this art space. Design by Chris Harrison.
