Officers also issued a traffic ticket to a driver found using a mobile phone while driving.

🏍️On Saturday evening, officers worked alongside colleagues from Chester-le-Street Police and Durham Roads & Armed Policing to carry out an operation targeting off-road bikes. The force’s off-road bike team patrolled the Coast to Coast route between Chester-le-Street and Stanley, with drone support providing aerial oversight. 👮‍♀️New Recruits👮

Last week, our Neighbourhood Team visited Catchgate Primary School to speak with Nursery and Reception about people who keep them safe!

We spoke to the children about people who can help them in the community, and how they can come to us if they are ever lost or in trouble. 👋

They had a great time exploring our van and trying on our dress up kit!! Thanks for having us!🚓

• Our PCSOs attended Burnopfield Lunch Club, taking the opportunity to get to know members of the local community and enjoying some great conversations.

• NPT officers attended the New Kyo partnership meeting to discuss ongoing local issues and priorities.

• Officers pursued a vehicle that failed to stop. The driver was arrested after failing a roadside drugs test and taken into custody.

• PCSOs and PCs have been carrying out foot patrols in hotspot areas, engaging with members of the public along the way. If you see us out and about, please do come and say hello.

• PCSOs attended a road traffic collision and assisted response officers with a road closure until the vehicle was safely recovered.

• PCSO Greener has been visiting East Stanley, South Stanley and Greenlands Primary Schools this week, providing a visible presence and encouraging parents to park safely.

• A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with multiple shoplifting offences. After recently moving to South Moor, she targeted several shops in a short period, causing losses of hundreds of pounds. Thanks to the support of local stores and response teams, South Moor NPT swiftly built a strong case, and she was remanded to court.

• On Friday and Saturday officers responded to reports of large groups of youths at Oakey’s Park. Some were causing issues and using off road bikes. A drone was deployed to observe those responsible, officers will now be working closely with local schools to identify those involved. Thank you to the young people who engaged with officers, sadly it was a small minority who spoilt it for the rest.

This evening, your neighbourhood officers will be working alongside our colleagues from Consett NPT to help keep everyone safe. We hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend! 😊
