We were called to a fire in the open on the early hours of Wednesday morning on church hill in Stanford. We were supported with Orsett and Basildon and Grays aerial ladder platform. When we arrived there was a fire spreading towards the adjacent pub. Crews worked well to contain the fire and stop it spreading. Unfortunately the fire did affect the pub at the rear but crews wore breathing apparatus to enter the property and managed to contain it to just a small part of the roof space.

An investigation was carried out and found that the fire was started deliberately.

Corringham crews started the week off with an industrial fire.

We were called at 23:54 on Sunday night to an incident in West Thurrock with eight crews already there.

We arrived to see 3 industrial units well alight and spreading fast. The incident escalated to 12 crews and with the support of two Aerial Ladder Platforms.

Crews from Grays (2) , Orsett, Brentwood, Corringham, Basildon (2), Old Harlow, Rayleigh, Billericay and 2 from LFB worked together to stop the fire spreading into further industrial units and then extinguished the fire completely.

Crews responded this afternoon to reports of a grass fire along the manorway.

On Tuesday 10th February, our crew had the pleasure of welcoming the 2nd Stanford-le-Hope Toomai Cubs to the station for an engaging and educational visit.

We spoke to the Cubs about the wide range of incidents we attend, including road traffic collisions, animal rescues, and fires. The session gave them a great insight into the important work we do to help keep the community safe.

The group also learned about the importance of having working smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and heat alarms in their homes, and how these devices help protect lives and property. We discussed fire safety in everyday situations, including staying safe around campfires and fireworks.

To finish off the visit, the Cubs enjoyed a tour of the fire engine, learning about the equipment we use, and even had the opportunity to handle the hose and sq**rt some water, which was definitely a highlight of the evening!

It was a fantastic visit, and we hope to see some future firefighters among them! 🚒

Our crews continue to work closely with Thurrock Foodbank, and we’re proud to support the incredible work they do for families and individuals across our community.

We have a donation drop-off point located round the back of the station, near our Community Centre. This year we’re aiming to support them as much as possible, as they do such an amazing job providing essential supplies to those who need it most.

If you would like to help, they are currently in need of long-life, non-perishable items (please no fresh produce).

Today our crew, alongside Chelmsford’s animal rescue unit, responded to a farm in Fobbing to assist Hector the horse after he had fallen in his stable and was unable to get back up.

Working closely together, the Animal Rescue Unit and the attending vet carefully helped Hector safely and steadily back onto his feet.

Thanks to great teamwork and a calm, methodical approach, Hector was soon standing again. 🐴
