We know there has been a lot of conservation following our earlier post about the field and its current closure.

It is closed currently to assess the state of the field and also to look at alternative security. There has been no decision to permanently close the field to the public.

The field was purchased as an amenity field and not an overflow car park. The field is opened through the summer months to support the residents and visitors to the village during the busier months.

We are working to find a solution that best supports the whole village.

The travellers have now left the field behind Viking Road car park, and we have secured the site once again.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to reopen the field as an overflow car park while we continue working with installers to improve the security of the height barrier and surrounding access points. The travellers have also left a significant amount of rubbish behind, which now needs to be cleared. Unfortunately, each time formal notices have to be served to move travellers on, there are unavoidable legal and enforcement costs, followed by the additional expense of site clean-up and repairs.

We remain keen to reopen the overflow car park and continue support bringing visitors to our lovely village. However, we must do so safely and responsibly, while also being mindful of the comfort and wellbeing of residents living closest to the field.

We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding while we work to get the best solution.

From the 31st May, there will be an increase in frequency of the Number 10 bus service. At some points of the day, there will be a bus every 30 minutes.

This is a huge benefit for us as a village and will make connections to and from the village a lot easier and quicker.

Please support the Number 10 Bus as and when you can, it is crucial that we use these local
Services or we will lose them.

Good Afternoon; Travellers have broken through the newly installed height restrictor and barrier that the Parish Council have purchased and installed yesterday.

We are in contact with the police to move them on and secure the field (overflow carpark) once more.
