centre for unwanted or mistreated exotic animals,birds of prey and reptiles.

Originally a Bird of prey hospital set up in the early 80s, Gentleshaw wildlife centre expanded in 1993 to include a rescue sanctuary for rescued exotic animals and captive bred birds of prey . Also on site is a bird of prey hospital, used to treat injured wild birds of prey. These casualties are not on display and are with us for rehabilitation until they are fit. The wild birds of prey are then

returned to the wild. The sanctuary is open to the public where you can visit our captive bred, permanent residents, including primates, Raccoons, Owls, Hawks, Snakes, Lizards and more.

Annie Skunk heard about the wonderful amount raised, and decided she'd help us spend it. Annie has had a major operation and 2 vet visits. We understand how much people are struggling at the moment and we are holding on to our low entry price to try and help. We also understand that getting children through our shop on the way out can be a challenge. We try to keep prices in there low too. We have a range of gifts from 50p for a postcard or £2 for a pen. We have lots of keepsakes featuring all the animals.

When we say the Amazon wishlist is a lifeline, we really mean it. The items are mostly enrichment or feed for the residents; furry, feathered and scaly. But occasionally we ask for items for the green army volunteers. If you ever wondered what it means, this was our matriarch when she saw the donated cappuccino sachets. The kettle went straight on.
