Dave and Shakiya hitting the headlines 😊

As Christmas gets closer, we want to celebrate the people who help keep our communities safe every day 🎄

Across , around 230 School Crossing Patrols look after families from Biddulph to Kinver. They do it in all weathers, with a smile, and with real care for their community.

Today we’re shining a spotlight on two wonderful colleagues: David Taylor, Staffordshire’s eldest patrol at 85, and Shakiya Wheeler, our youngest at just 19.

🌟 David, our eldest patrol at 85, joined us back in 2006. After his job closed, he wanted to give something back. Nearly 19 years later, he still loves meeting people, chatting at the crossing and making sure everyone gets across safely – whether they’re 1 or 101. He’s watched children grow up, come back as parents, and even bring their own children to the crossing.

🌟 Shakiya, our youngest patrol at just 19, joined us two months ago. She loves being outdoors, getting to know families and seeing children grow in confidence. Parents have thanked her for helping shy children come out of their shells.

Both say the best part of the job is the people. The smiles. The waves. The chats. And knowing they help keep children safe every single day 🫶

As we head into the festive season, they both share the same message for the families they see each day: "Merry Christmas, and best wishes for health and happiness in the year ahead." 🎅

If you see our patrols out and about, please slow down, stop when asked, and give them a friendly wave 👋

Graham is back at his crossing!
Graham suffered a cardiac arrest at the beginning of the year and has been very poorly. In Grahams own words “it’s a miracle”
After a well deserved rest he is back! You can’t keep this man down for long!
Welcome back Graham and thank you for your dedication 🫡

Look who's back !!!!! Wishing Graham a safe return to our community.
