Crews attended Stone Fire Station to use their training house for a simulated house fire. Firefighters practiced their skills in a smoke filled environment searching for casualties removing them to safety.

Crews also used PPV positive pressure ventilation once the fire was extinguished to improve conditions inside the property.

11:37 Gnosall and Brewood mobilised to a large vehicle fire in Brineton area. On arrival Brewood crews used 2x HRJ’s, 1 main jet and two breathing apparatus to tackle the fire which had also spread to the hedge. Gnosall appliance provided additional water supplies and worked with highways to contain oil, which had leaked from the vehicle. staffsfire

Join our Gnosall crew as an on-call firefighter, applications have opened today!

We’ve just opened our application process for on-call firefighter roles at stations across the county.🧑‍🚒

❓Not sure what we mean by on-call❓

On-call firefighters are paid to respond to emergencies. Rather than waiting at the station, they carry an alerter so they can be notified to respond from home or work.

They receive the same training and attend the same types of incidents as full time firefighters; they just provide a number of on-call hours every week when they’re available to respond.

Drill night last night at Gnosall, where crews practised some RTC (Road Traffic Collision) techniques to create space, in order to extricate trapped casualties.

On Saturday, we hosted a 3 hour taster session on station, welcoming potential on-call firefighter recruits to learn more about the role and experience some of the practical elements first hand.

During the session, attendees took part in a range of activities, including:

🚒 Equipment Carry
🚒 Casualty Evacuation
🚒 Manual Dexterity Test
🚒 Ladder Leg Lock

These activities gave a valuable insight into the physical and practical demands of the role, as well as the teamwork and commitment involved in serving the community.

We’re still recruiting, and we’d love to meet you. If you live or work close to the fire station and are interested in finding out more, feel free to come down to the station and have a chat with us.

There’s no pressure just an opportunity to ask questions, look around, and see whether becoming an on-call firefighter could be right for you. 🚒
