The short circular walk at Staffin on the Isle of Skye was the first ever featured on Walkhighlands, back when we set up what was then the website in 2006. It heads over the hill to the slipway, visiting the dinosaur fossil beach and offers great views to the Quiraing.

With Autumn well and truly upon us, we are feeling very grateful for another amazing Summer season, maybe even our best ever! Thank you and BIG LOVE to everyone who came out with us this summer, in every kind of weather... You rock! We are planning on running a series of winter workshops, these are open to everyone and we're super excited to share skills, personal passions and continue to explore cool places. There will be four sets of 2 day courses which will run over weekends in December and January. Check them out below and get in touch to book or for additional information, places are limited as we want to keep ratios low.

14th, 15th Dec- Learning the ropes- Rope work and gear placement for budding trad climbers- learn about safe gear placements, build belays, improve your climbing skills and knowledge, visit some of Skye’s famous crags.

11th, 12th Jan- Really rocky rock pooling- get wet and explore the coastal zone properly, learn about coastal ecology, forage and cook what we find. This course will bring together coasteering, foraging and cooking for a unique weekend of fun and feasting.

18th, 19th Jan- Manoeuvres in the dark - Navigation- learn the basics, improve your skills and put them into practice. From basic theory to practical application. Learn the nuts and bolts and then see if you can find your way in zero visibility!

25th and 26th Jan - Gutties and Gabbro-An introduction to mountain and trail running on Skye; Discover local trails, talk gear, workshop techniques and training.
