St Neots Market Square will see the installation of a new item of adaptable street furniture this summer, with installation expected later in June.

The furniture will provide seating for day-to-day use, in a style consistent with existing benches on the Market Square, while also incorporating a design that allows it to be set up as a stage for small-scale performances, community activity and seasonal events when required.

Since declaring a Climate Emergency in 2019, St Neots Town Council has been working towards becoming carbon net-zero by 2030, and 2025/26 has been a HUGE year for progress!

Here are just some of the highlights:

- Biodiversity improvements including swift bricks and new hedgerows
- New carbon accounting systems helping track and reduce emissions
- Sustainable Procurement Policy launched to support greener decision-making
- New recycling bins introduced in cemeteries to reduce waste and protect wildlife
- Ecological audits and biodiversity training helping shape greener community spaces

These projects are helping create a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future for St Neots, and this is only the beginning.
