𝐄𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐲 𝐕𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲
In the recent ballot Eltisley residents voted by 55 votes to 46 to delay the opening of Cambridge Road into the village until the full A428 Upgrade scheme goes live in about a year's time.

101 residences out of 168 voted meaning that 68% took part in the ballot. The count by parish councillors was witnessed by resident Andy Howell.

If you would like to help tidy up our somewhat tired looking village pond then please join the village working party tomorrow morning, Saturday 2nd August for a couple of hours.

We will be trimming some of the trees and bushes around the pond and removing the waste, some from the previous working party, and clearing any other detritus.

We also hope to launch our new duck house!

Please bring gloves, and any loppers and secateurs you may have. Other tools will be provided.

𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝗮𝗺

There will be a village working party this Saturday 8th March at 10:00 am to clear the pond area removing fallen trees and generally tidying the area.

Please come along if you are free. The pond is a focal point of the village and its important to get it looking nice. Please just bring gloves and your self. Any other tools will be provided.

𝗔𝟰𝟮𝟴 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲

Darren and I have just returned from a meeting with National Highways/Skanska regarding primarily the opening of Cambridge Road.

They announced that although the Eltisley roundabouts will open in mid-April, 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 (July-August) because of work being undertaken by UK Power Networks.

Initially traffic will only be routed along a small section of the south roundabout so that its impact on the traffic flow on the A428 should hopefully be minimal. The full roundabout will be opened only when Cambridge Road reopens.

They were receptive to the idea of only 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗷𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, i.e. going out of the village, to minimise rat running traffic coming south along the B1040 and using the village to cut the corner. This was always one of our main concerns with the scheme., However closing the junction to incoming traffic will mean entering the village could take longer. Please give us your views on this. Closing Cambridge Road to incoming traffic can only be done when the road is initially re-opened, and cannot be done later. However, opening the road in both directions can be done at any time.

You may be aware that last weekend, some hedges were removed at the rear of some properties on the north side of St Neots Road, resulting in the residents now having an open view of the A428 traffic and increased noise. We were not notified about this in advance and we made it clear that we were not happy about it. Discussions will now take place between Skanska and Cambridge Highways with a view to replacing the hedging.

Skanska reported that during the recent A428 closure it had been the worst weekend for 'incursions', i.e. people accessing the road on foot or by car. They impressed on us that there are 40 tonne trucks frequently using the road, which are a danger to life, and we should 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗸𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀.

On a positive note there have not been any injury related accidents at the B1040 junction which has been attributed to traffic travelling more slowly along the A428.

There will be an 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝟱𝗽𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟴𝗽𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗱𝗲 with National Highways/Skanska and hopefully Cambridge Highways. This will give you a chance to directly find out about the scheme progress and plans for the reopening of Cambridge Road and other work.
