Important road closure! On Monday 9th March Scottish Water repair works will close the B939 Strathkinness Low Road from the end of Buchanan Gardens to Lawhead Roundabout. Outbound traffic will divert onto Strathkinness High Road which is likely to become very busy until the works finish on Wednesday 11th as inbound traffic on B939 will turn off at Strathkinness Cross Roads.

The potholes on Doubledykes Road in St Andrews are dangerous, and I have made several reports to Fife Council Roads Department about this. I am told that faulty materials used in resurfacing are the cause, but this must be dealt with quickly before someone is injured. (The defects are outside St Andrews Museum, and stretch 25m to Kennedy Gardens)

Disappointly low turnout at the Consultation on Visitor Levy at St Andrews Town Hall today. Only a dozen or so visitors over a three hour period. This proposed levy is unlikely to benefit St Andrews in any way. Please do take part in the online survey

The Fife Voluntary Action Fayre is on at St Andrews Town Hall until 3.30pm today. Many local charities are represented and are looking for volunteers to swell the ranks of their helpers. I was pleased to see Graham and Roy from Headway which now holds its meetings in St Andrews Community Hospital in a room supplied free by NHS Fife. Please do think about how you could help one of the many local charities which are doing a great job on behalf of North East Fife.

Went to the Madras Parents Carers Council meeting last night, and as usual was very impressed by the work which Staff are doing - great presentations by the Learning Support Team and on the forthcoming roll out of iPads. I find it puzzling that in a school of 1500 pupils only a handful of parents attend these meetings. Do they not appreciate that their child's education is a joint enterprise involving them as well as the school?

A moving Remembrance Service at Holy Trinity St Andrews this morning, followed by a large parade of Army and Air Force personnel with many citizens attending the War Memorial in steady rain. Honoured to have laid a Wreath for Fife Council alongside those of the Royal British Legion, our local MP and MSP and representatives of The Forces, Police, Fife Services, and local organisations and schools.

Lovely morning at the St Andrews Men's Shed at Craigtoun's open day. Very impressive how the Shed is now fully equipped, and powered by its own solar panels and battery storage. It provides an important outlet for the talents of mainly retired men, as well as giving them valuable social interaction, and has been well supported by local charities, for which many thanks

TRAFFIC LIGHTS on A915 from St Andrews to Feddinch starting early October for four months:

Communication Letter - A&M Golf Feddinch Notification of Drainage Works on A915

Please be advised that A&M Golf’s appointed contractor will be undertaking essential civil engineering works to install a new foul drainage network. The contractor plans to complete works around the Morrison roundabout, (which will require a 4-way traffic light system) within the first two weeks from starting and will thereafter be moving south up the A915, where a 2-way traffic light system will be implemented.

Programme of Works

• Commencement: Wednesday 8 October 2025

• Completion: Friday 30 January 2026

• Festive Suspension: Works will be suspended from Friday 19 December 2025 until Monday 6 January 2026. During this period, reinstatement activities will be completed and all traffic management measures will be removed.

Traffic Management

The works will be undertaken on the A915 road. For the protection of both the public and the workforce, a portable traffic light management system will be operational throughout the works. This arrangement will facilitate a lane closure to accommodate the works, with one live lane maintained for public traffic.

Disappointing to walk down South Street this evening and see the ponding beside the "Covid Pavement Extensions" which have never drained properly since they were first blocked. Hopefully the Council can do something about it!

Traffic lights have been installed outside the new gateway to Feddinch golf course where a contraflow is in place on the A915
