🚒 Drill Night – Pumping from Open Water 💦

On our latest drill night, the retained crew were practising pumping water from an open-water source using the LPP (Low Pressure Pump).

With the appliance positioned safely at the side of the water source, the crew worked through the setup of the LPP, connecting the equipment and establishing a water supply back to the appliance.

The drill was a great opportunity to refresh our practical skills and practise working together as a team. Crew members rotated through different roles, allowing everyone to get hands-on experience with the equipment and the pumping operation.

We also focused on good communication, safe positioning and making sure the equipment was deployed correctly and efficiently.

A really useful session for the retained crew — keeping those skills fresh so we're ready when they're needed at an incident. 💪🚒💦

🎃 Haunted House – Vendor Meeting 👻

Wow — thank you to everyone who has shown interest in bringing a food van, drink van, attraction or entertainment to our Spalding Fire Station Haunted House.

We have now had 40+ businesses and vendors get in touch, which is fantastic and far more interest than we expected!

As we have limited space around the station, we obviously won't be able to accommodate everyone. We also want to make sure we have a good variety of food, drinks and entertainment, rather than having several vendors offering the same products.

With this in mind, we would like to invite everyone who has expressed an interest to come along to:

📅 Monday 21st September 2026
⏰ 18:30
📍 Spalding Fire Station

The evening will give us an opportunity to:

🍔 Find out what each vendor offers
🎃 Discuss the Haunted House and the overall event
🍕 Look at the different food and drink options
🎪 Discuss entertainment and attractions
📍 Talk about available space and pitch arrangements
📅 Discuss attendance on Friday 30th and/or Saturday 31st October
⚡ Discuss any requirements such as power, access, vehicle size etc.

Most importantly, it will allow us to put together the best possible mix of vendors for the event.

Please understand that attending the meeting does not automatically guarantee a pitch, as we have limited space and may need to make selections where there are multiple vendors offering similar products.

We want to make the event enjoyable for everyone — our visitors, the vendors and the fire station team — so we feel this is the fairest way to organise everything.

We’re getting ready for our Spalding Fire Station Haunted House and we’re looking for local businesses, food vendors and entertainers to come along and help us create an amazing atmosphere for the community!

There is no cost for your pitch. We simply want to bring together a great selection of local businesses and attractions to make the Haunted House a fantastic evening for families and the local community.

It’s a great opportunity to trade, promote your business and be part of a popular local event. 🎃

Please everybody be responsible during this heatwave, don’t have bonfires and make sure you bbq responsibly. 🔥

Don’t be tempted to go swimming in rivers, ponds, lakes or any type of water source 🌊
