Major decision made over future of Southport Pier

17/02/2026

Staff required to join our small but friendly team in a busy, high volume cafe in the heart of the beautiful Haigh Woodland Park

We are looking for people who have some prior experience in making barista style coffee, serving, and food handling.

Weekends and school holidays are our busiest times so these are the core hours, but we are generally busy most days from March to November.

You would also be required to work outside of school hours so this job may not be suited to you if you had to do a school run, or had to attend college during the week for example. But we will have some positions for solely weekend and holiday work coming up in the near future too. Please only apply for this position if you can work outside of these.

Apply by emailing [email protected] or hand in a CV directly to us at Graze.

Nb
We open most days around 8-9 am and close between 5-7pm (custom depending). Shifts would vary between these hours. The park also holds some events where we require our staff to work outside of core hours, movie nights/foodie Fridays.

This job is not for full time hours as this position has already been filled.

Today marks 3 years since we were closed out of our business, stripped of our livelihood, 3 years with zero help and a severe lack of communication.

Still looking positively to 2026 as the year that we see you all again, in our family businesses that we have given our entire lives to!

13 December 2022 was a sad day for us and our workforce.

Happy 2nd anniversary to our other business Graze at Haigh, if you’re missing us guys you can catch some of the pier team Haigh Woodland Park

*Celebrating two years*

Today marks our second year at Graze at Haigh Woodland Park !

A huge thank you to our amazing customers and staff for all of your support as we found our feet at Haigh.

In 2023, whilst our other business Southport Pier Pavillion was sadly and is still temporarily closed we took a leap of faith and invested in one of the loveliest parks in the North west.

We have to say that the customers in Wigan are
some of the kindest most polite bunch of people we have ever had the pleasure to serve. Whilst you all love your classic “Wigan kebab” our special and secret recipe “salt and pepper chicken” has taken a place in your hearts. We are proud to be serving it up by the bucket load!

Always open to suggestions and comments of what else you’d like to see on our menu-Here’s to many more happy moments over 2026 and beyond!

See you all at the fireworks on Sunday! Cheers 🥂

Southport Pier - “A national treasure that has been allowed to fall into disrepair” says Rachel Reeves

It’s certainly good news that we’ve had another announcement indicating that the funds to repair Southport Pier will be coming from central government.

Local councillors still don’t have any real detail beyond the press releases and social media videos but the noises from central government are certainly encouraging.

It has been a long journey to get here, which isn’t over yet and it’s a testament to the hard work of campaigners, local residents, local businesses and opposition councillors from across the political spectrum. Sustained public and political pressure has brought this issue to the fore.

Labour run Sefton Council, allowed our Pier to fall into disrepair and it’s good that the Chancellor has acknowledged this with blame lying squarely with Labour councillors based in Bootle.

It was Labour councillors who failed to maintain the Pier which resulted in the closure in 2022 and who consistently voted against measures put forward by opposition councillors on Sefton Council to commence repairs sooner and create a larger maintenance budget.

It’s clear that Sefton Labour can’t be trusted to look after our Pier, even the Labour Chancellor, thinks so.

At next years local elections, when Labour councillors are trumpeting this as a success for them, remember who has run Sefton Council since 2012, who allowed a national treasure to fall into disrepair, as the Chancellor said, and who closed the Pier in the first place.
